My first observation about the product was how badly designed the bottle is. The Lynx gel is quite unlike any other shower gel that I have used. It is quite thick in consistency and is almost oily in texture. It also takes quite a while to lather it up. If you’re not careful, the little dollop that you plop into the palm of your hand will just be washed away by the shower water. I find that I have to stand away from the water and start rubbing it in, before I add too much water. This is the ... more
Some people have very complex requirements from their health and beauty products.
Mustn’t be tested on animals. Must contain certain herbal extracts. Must be from a certain brand. Must be a certain colour.
And so on, and so forth.
I’m ashamed to admit that I’m lured by rather more facile things – advertising campaigns and special offers for instance. When you’re wandering around the supermarket these days, something different seems to be on offer every week, so “damn your eyes” brand loyalty – I’m fickle and proud of it.
The picture nestled above this review does not actually show the product I purchased. Currently marketed in a range of two or three different colours and fragrances, I opted for the Revitalising Oxygen variety of the new Lynx Re-Load range, which is an icy blue colour.
My first observation about the product was how badly designed the bottle is. One side of the plastic is moulded into finger holds and the other side has a little patterned area, both of which combined are supposed to aid grip. This is all very well and good in theory, but if you were to grip the bottle how the design is suggesting, you would probably jettison most of the contents onto the shower floor in one hit. I’d also hate to have little hands – the design is clearly orientated to those of us with big digits. The bottle has no hook on it – so when you’re in the shower, you struggle to find somewhere to put it. I think this works on the basis that all the gym bunnies and footballers have communal showers, where suitable protrusions are quite hard to find (unless of course, one of your fellow shower users harbours a secret desire for you). I find this really irritating – my shower has a perfect little hook for gel bottles, but I either have to stand this stuff on the floor, or balance it precariously on a little shelf.
The bottle has a hard, sharp, black plastic cap, which is pretty difficult to flip open. Whilst I appreciate that they have tried to make the bottle sturdy, if you’ve got slippery hands, this bottle can be quite difficult to get open. The edge of the flip-up lid is also quite sharp – too much brute force will result in it becoming jammed between you fingernail and your finger. Ouch.
The gel smells not unlike a bathroom cleaning spray that they used to sell in Sainsbury’s. I suppose it is quite masculine in a way, but it is a very non-descript smell that reminds me of very little. There is a hint of pine in there, a hint of something herbal and a hint of chlorine. I did give it a bit of a sniff in the supermarket, but I have to say that it smelt much nicer from outside the bottle than it did when it was smeared all over my privates.
This is the only way to lather it up properly, but it does mean that whichever part of your body gets smeared first, also tends to be rather “over-oiled” (a handy clue there, for certain circumstances).
The Re-Load gel is advertised as giving you a kick and revitalising your body. I haven’t really identified either of these claims as being true. It smells fairly nice, it feels fairly nice and it does wash the mud off your knees – but then the same thing could be said of any bog standard shower gel. The gel is also dermatologically tested to be pH neutral, but I haven’t really noticed any difference on my skin, after having used this. A similar product on the market is the Adidas Sport shower gel, which is an infinitely superior product. The bottle is slim, groovy and well designed, the gel smells horny and it really does wake you up.
As with all these branded shower gels, Lynx Re-Load is also rather over-priced. I paid £2.19 for a 250ml bottle and for the money, I would have expected something a bit more exciting and interesting. As for those adverts where the guy uses Lynx and then gets surrounded by a horde of beauties – suffice it to say, I think this is unlikely. Ten minutes after showering in Lynx, I can’t smell it anymore – so I doubt anyone else could either. Once again, if you compare this to Adidas Sport, Lynx is very disappointing. I also prefer combined body and hair gels – Lynx is only suitable for your body (although my hair hasn’t fallen out after being washed in it. Yet.)
As you might have guessed, I’m not a fan of this product. Over-priced and over-hyped, this stuff is a waste of money. I’ll be sticking with Adidas from now on.
...across two teeny bottles of Lynx showergel. Now, I am a girly but nevertheless I adore Lynx and am not adverse to bathing in it – so these little bottles were sneakily added to my bottomless raider bag.
After subtly questioning my parents on the lineage of these 50ml samples I gleaned that they popped through the door one day, for no apparent reason (other than the postman did it) and wouldn’t get used by my ancient Old Spice loving ... ...the front has the usual Lynx logo and the name of the product: Transform, whilst the back has the ingredients – nothing out of the ordinary here. Overall the bottle is considerably funkier than the old black Lynx style and a welcome improvement.
The actual product is where it gets very cool. Transform is a royal blue colour, with little red sparkly bits floating in it, which is presumably the guarana, though the ingredients don’t actually ...

...you want to use everywhere. Lynx Africa Shower Gel is one of biggest fans because it doesn’t matter what I do, Lynx seems to be somewhere in the bathroom with me! I have wrote about a Lynx product before and I was surprised to see the response I got, I always thought that everyone use’s Lynx’s but I was wrong.
So why not? I’m not sure, Lynx are great and ok, they’re not to the best of value in bathroom products as there ... ...Lynx always used those black bottles to sell their shower gel, which as we know, is great stuff. Let me tell you about the new bottles.
You most probably wandering why the hell a fool of a 17yr old lad writes about the bottle, well let me tell you why! The bottle is amazing!
You could make money out of this so fix your eyes and read on to make some money! Hold the bottle down in a dark area, somewhere there’s not too much light and ask a ...

Advantages: Smells rather nice, long lasting fragrance on skin, cleans and gives the effect of moisturising skin. Disadvantages: PRICE, size of bottle.
...Today I’ll be reviewing Lynx Pulse Shower Gel, a new addition to the Lynx range.
Personally I would never go out and buy any Lynx product mainly because of the cheap and nasty experiences I had with it when I was in my early teens. I always found that their deodorants simply masked any odour instead of neutralising them making me feel insecure. This fear has followed me into later life (as my numerous “smelly” opinions might reveal).
Due to these ... ...and came part of the Lynx Pulse gift set which retails from www.pharmacy2u.com for £11.99. Individually you can expect to pay up to £2.50 for a 250ml bottle of the gel which is widely available from all major supermarkets and good pharmacies.
The design of the bottle is fairly nifty, made of black plastic the Lynx logo is emblazoned onto the front in silver with the word PULSE in green. The bottle is moulded at the sides with ridges so that it is ...

...better ones I received. Lynx Africa Shower gel.
The packaging of this product is very distinctive and masculine. It comes in a hard looking black plastic container, which is contoured in the middle to give it a broad shouldered look, well sort of. About half way up the bottle there is a knobbling effect, presumably to prevent you from dropping it in the showers after rugby… the less said about that the better. The front of the bottle is very ... ...would usually pick from the Lynx range I am normally more of an Atlantis man myself. But I am please to say it doesn’t smell like the Africa we see on TV, definitely no Elephant dung in site. Seriously though it does smell quite woody and spicy, god I sound like that woman from Food and Drink. It does leave you smelling fresh and feeling awakened though, especially in the morning when you have been awake for literally seconds before you hit ...

...my presents, there it was, Lynx Shower Gel, wow i thought, now thats good news, because i only use Lynx Deodorant. So i thought, when everyone has gone, me is off in the shower, to try this :).
So i said goodbye to my family, and woooooooosh up the stairs i trotted, like a horse, yes i trotted, and i took my Shower gel into the shower, and i have to say i really liked this gel.
The first thing that you notice is the shape of the plastic bottle, ... ...pure black, apart from the Lynx logo which is in the colour of silver. The make of the Gel, as in the Gel's name, like Lynx Africa, or Lynx Gravity, these are done in different colours and pictures. The one i have is Africa, and this is in 2 colour, red and green, the red is basically a box, but a one that the length is bigger than the width, and the green is each side, in the shape of, what can only be described as when you draw circles when you ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Lynx Shower Gel"
Advantages: Great scent, good bottle for use in the shower, great price, frequently on offer. Disadvantages: None.
Lynx Africa Showergel is designed for men and my review is purely based on using some of my other half's products that I stay over at his house last minute and don't have many toiletries with me!
The bottle is black plastic with a flip top lid and have the lynx Africa label on it and all of the Lynx labels have different statements these days which are short and sweet and basically designed for men so they might say "scrub yourself after a dirty night out" or something similar and they always make me smile when I read them. The bottle is very easy to open, even in the shower & a light squeeze will decant a little amount of showergel and I choose to put mine straight on to a bath puff and give it a little squeeze. Africa creates a fantastic amount of lather and it has a gorgeous, masculine scent to it, there is definitely nothing ...
Advantages: Lovely fruity fragrance. Nice colour. Good price. Disadvantages: None.
As I was shopping on day I needed to purchase some showergel, as you do. I noticed that a new product entitled Lynx Fever was being sold, in an opaque bottle with bright orange gel contained within it. The vibrant colour was an eye-catching feature for me, and a picked the bottle up, to read that it was 'Brazilian hot mud and red dragonfruit extract'. My sense of intrigue and curiosity mainly caused me to buy the product (seeing as I had never heard of dragonfruit before).
I will omit most of the details of when I used it for obvious reasons, but I opened the bottle and was instantly greeted with an invigorating, luscious smell, much like that of a fruit bowl. Whilst pleasant, it wasn't too overpowering, which is perhaps a negative aspect of other gels. Within the thick gel are tiny minerals that serve to enhance relaxation when ...

Advantages: Smells great Disadvantages: A bit oily
This is a great product which is well used in our house by all members of the family on a daily basis. It has a lovely fragrance which lasts long into the day and keeps you feeling fresh. It lathers well and has a nice "zing" to it which can really wake you up in the morning, it is especially good for those who have had a hard night out on the town the previous evening!
It is well packaged and easily handled in the shower. I feel that it is good value for money. The only criticism is that it can feel a bit oily at times but overall this is one of the best types of showergel presently on the market.
I recommend it. ...
