Despite a plethora of men's shower gels now available in shops, the Lynx brand remains one of the most popular among consumers. On a recent shopping trip to Morrisons, I noticed a Lynx shower gel that I hadn't seen before. I presume it is new but I may, of course, be wrong. In the past, Lynx have produced shower gels with some obscure names - Africa, Dimension and Phoenix are a few that spring to mind - and now we have 'Touch Revitalising Shower Gel' to add to the list. Okay, I know it's not the most impressive of names, but it wasn't the name that attracted me to buy it; it was the shape of the container that caught my attention, bizarre as it may sound.
The bottle is tall and black, as is the case with all Lynx shower gels, and really quite trendy in appearance. All over are various different textures and patterns etched onto the container that you can feel and touch - from grooves which you grip with your fingers to a raised bubble effect and indentations in the plastic along one side of the container. It is really quite unique!
The front of the container has the 'LYNX' name running vertically upwards in bold, silver lettering and the name 'Touch' in smaller red lettering underneath. At the top of the product label is a kind of red and white swirl. I'm not sure what significance this has but it is probably just there for show. Overall, the container is quite basic in appearance, but at the same time, has an air of sophistication about it.
Anyway, that's enough about the bottle, what about the gel itself? The first thing you notice is the colour of the gel. It is a light shade of red - not quite red, but not pink either.
The next thing is the smell. It is sweet and fruity but in a masculine kind of way, and is by far one of the most refreshing shower gels I have used. It not only leaves you feeling clean and fresh after use, but also has a revitalising effect on your skin. Some gels can cause skin irritation, but this one claims to be dermatologically approved and I certainly haven't had any problems with it. In fact, I have found that it actually has a moisturising effect on the skin, meaning that it stays softer and fresher for longer.
But does the feeling of freshness last….? Well from my experience, it does. My skin is always left feeling soft and revitalised for hours afterwards and Lynx certainly performs better than a lot of other shower gels I have used in the past.
So what about the price…? I bought my 250ml bottle from Morrisons for £1.88, which I consider to be good value for money. It seems to be widely available, so look out for it in your local supermarket.
Overall, I like the fragrant, refreshing quality of this gel. It not only smells nice, but cleanses and softens skin too. This and the fact that it is relatively inexpensive to buy means that it deserves no less than a 5 star rating.
