MAC sell a few different types of concealer, but the ones that I am reviewing are MAC Studio Finish Concealer and MAC Studio Stick Concealer. I should point out that the purpose of these concealers is to cover blemishes - this may seem obvious, but light-diffusing concealers have become very popular lately; the purpose of these is to brighten and highlight certain areas of the face, rather than cover them (MAC sell one of these too in case you are ... ...- the same pot that MAC eyeshadows come in for those of you who have seen a MAC eyeshadow (a pot I am very familiar with, having over 30 MAC eyeshadows!!!). For those of you who haven't, the pot is a circular shape, measuring 3 1/2 cm across, and with a depth of 1 1/2- 2cm. It is made of black plastic, except for the flip-top lid which is mostly clear, and has the MAC logo printed on it in black. You get 7g of product in a pot.
MAC sell a few different types of concealer, but the ones that I am reviewing are MAC Studio Finish Concealer and MAC Studio Stick Concealer. I should point out that the purpose of these concealers is to cover blemishes - this may seem obvious, but light-diffusing concealers have become very popular lately; the purpose of these is to brighten and highlight certain areas of the face, rather than cover them (MAC sell one of these too in case you are interested).
I'll start with the first MAC concealer that I bought - 'Studio Finish Concealer'. This comes in a little plastic pot - the same pot that MAC eyeshadows come in for those of you who have seen a MAC eyeshadow (a pot I am very familiar with, having over 30 MAC eyeshadows!!!).
The product itself is a solid cream. To apply, I use a concealer brush (sticking your fingers into the pot would be too messy!) . I swipe the brush across the surface of the cream and then swipe the brush across the area of my face that needs it (usually by my jawline). I then blend the product using my fingers. The product is opaque and therefore gives great coverage. This doesn't mean that the concealer looks thick and cakey though - as long as you blend it well, it looks almost invisible. Especially if you find the right shade for you (I'll tell you a bit about the shades nearer the end). I have dry skin, and I always moisturise before applying any make-up. This helps the concealer to go on smoothly and blend easily.
This product is fragrance free and water resistant. Therefore it is very long-wearing (I never need to reapply during the day when I wear it). It contains SPF15 and is also non-comedogenic (it won't clog pores, which is a plus!). A pot will last forever as you get so much product, however you may need more than one shade, for different times of the year. That is the reason why I bought...
...'MAC Studio Stick Concealer'. This is quite a new product from MAC. Instead of a pot, the concealer somes in solid stick form. The stick container doesn't state how much product it contains (which isn't very helpful), but when closed, it is 8 1/2cm long and very slimline (1 - 1 1/2 cm across). Again, the packaging is black plastic, with a strip of silver and the MAC logo in silver going around the stick in the centre. The stick works like a lipstick; you pull the lid off and twist the bottom of the stick anti-clockwise to push the concealer stick upwards. I have about 2cm of concealer stick left - I'm not sure how much was there originally.
To apply the Studio Stick concealer, I twist the stick to push the product up, and then apply directly to my (moisturised) face where needed. Again, I blend the product with my fingers. This concealer provides good natural coverage, but is not as heavy as the Studio Finish Concealer. It is easy to blend, goes on smoothly and lasts well. An advantage to this concealer is that you don't need a concealer brush to apply it, however, it doesn't contain any SPF (which doesn't really matter, as I'm sure you all use moisturisers or foundation with SPF in them).
Both concealers are easily removed with any cleanser or face wash.
Onto the shades - the shade of my original concealer is NC20 (I bought it in summer). The NC refers to the fact that I have some yellow tones in my skin, and the 20 refers to the darkness of my skin (which is quite pale). Last winter, I decided that this concealer was too dark for me, so I went to the MAC store expecting to buy NC15 (the palest shade). However, I was advised that my skin was no longer NC, but NW, which meant that I now had pink tones to my skin, rather than yellow. This makes sense, as I don't really get darker during the summer, I just turn a more golden shade (thus the yellow tones). I still think that I need a paler shade than '20' though, so I will probably go back to buy '15'. MAC sell a wide range of shades, so you are bound to find one to suit you. I would recommend asking a sales assistant for advice, as it can get confusing looking at all the shades yourself.
MAC concealers cost around £11 (the last one I bought did anyway), and I recommend them!
Advantages: Covers spots and dark circles well Disadvantages: None
...a concealer, which was the MAC studion finish concealer. When I went to the MAC store in Westfield shopping centre I was originally just looking for a foundation but when the consultant mentioned a concealer I thought it would be worth a try. I don't have the best skin and am always trying to find ways to hide my inperfections. As well as spots, which apprently I am not growing out of , I quite often have dark circles under my eyes. I do try and ... ...decided that I would give MAC concealer a try. I am trusting of their make up from products I have bought of them before. I also like that you can get one of the consulatants to try the product on you before you buy. The concealer as with most MAC products comes in a black box with the MAC logo on it. This product is quite small so comes in a small box. The box also has the name of the product and the ingredients written on the box. The box being ...

...of women are. They buy MAC lipstick, MAC Eyeshadow, MAC Powder, MAC mascara, MAC face wipes, MAC lotion, MAC MAC MAC. They usually are uber obsessed with this Brandname. In some ways though, I can understand the obsession. After being introduced to the different pigment colors of MAC, I found my fave eyeshadow. Then, this little *Gem* of a concealer. So, suffice to say, I will be checking out more MAC cosmetics as my current cosmetics supply starts ... ...i've always paid for it. MAC stuff isn't normally "cheap" but it's not really expensive either. This stuff is around the same price as most of the same in Clinque or Lancome and works 10 times better. So, it's NOT going to break the bank. Like i said, you can get this on Ebay or at a MAC store which is usually at various department stores. You might want to go online and see what locations are near you. *****In Conclusion***** This concealer is everything ...

Advantages: Good coverage, moisturises, brightens Disadvantages: Tube doesn't shut as tightly as I'd like - just noticed a wee bit of leakage
...obsessed) daughter, I visited the MAC counter in our local department store. The consultant there recommended, based on my age, skin tone and skin type MAC Select Moisture Cover, in shade NC20 (one of the lightest shades). The shade is lighter than I would have chosen myself - this just goes to show how clueless I am when it comes to make up. Although the bottle seems dinky, and is only 5ml, a little really does go a long way. The thin little bottle ... ...is different. Online, from MAC itself, you'll pay £11.26 for this - elsewhere, you can expect to pay anywhere between £10 - £15, probably less at some discounters. Used sparingly, you should get decent value for money, as premium make-up brands go. As a non habitual make-up wearer, I can recommend this concealer. ...

...worse, I decided to give MAC a try. The assistant matches you up with a shade that suits you, and because there's a much larger range of colours then with cheaper brands, it's easier to find one that is an (at least almost!) perfect match for your skin tone. They also have a variety of different concealers to suit what it is exactly that you are trying to conceal. I wanted one for both blemishes and under eye circles, and was reccommended this one. ... ...have heard negative things about MAC make up's effect on skin. However, I honestly do not think this product has had anything other then a positive effect on my skin.
I am so glad that I found this. I don't think I will ever look elsewhere when the time comes for another concealer.
EDIT: In response to comments:
This concealer costs £11.

Advantages: Easy to apply, good for people who need to cover a lot of blemishes Disadvantages: A bit pricey
This is a good concealer, but its not amazing. I guess it depends on the type of skin you have. I've realised that the studiofix foundation would be enough for me to use as a foundation and concealer combined.
I bought this concealer from the Mac in Newcastle, no offence to the people who work there but I don't think the lady knew much about darker skin so I think the concealer is a bit too dark. Its supposed to hide blemishes and conceal dark areas but instead it makes my skin look a bit weird especially if I wear the foundation on top. Also sometimes the makeup looks great in the shop because of the lighting but when you get home it doesnt quite look as good.
Next tome I'm going to be a lot cleverer when getting makeup and take a better look at it, I also recommend taking a friend who knows a lot about makeup.
If you dont ...
Advantages: shades to suit most skin tones, good coverage Disadvantages: expensive, may not go on smoothly
I had never used Mac products before a party in aid of my sister's wedding, when I decided to get my make up done there (the money you spend on getting your make up done there is redeemable against the products - in my case, £25). Mac have a really wide variety of shades to suit most skin colours. This is true for most of their products (foundation, lipstick, lipliner, eyeshadow, to name but a few!)
THE PRODUCT
The actual concealer is solid and creamy, with a slight sweet fragrance. It is quite greasy in appearance but when applied, is quite dry. I mainly use it for the dark circles under my eyes and occasionally to cover blemishes. I usually wash my hands and use my fingers to apply it, and this seems to work fine, although a brush would probably be better for getting into creases etc
THE PACKAGING
The concealer ...
am a huge Mac fan and this is another great product in their range. They have once again surpassed themselves in creating a great product that is worth every penny and does exactly what it says that it does. I have been trying out a lot of concealer to date and this is another one that was on my list.
MacConcealer select moisture cover is a product that comes in a tube and with a built in applicator with a brush tip to make the concealer easy to apply. It comes in a wide variety of shades so that they suit all skin colours and types. It is a concealer that helps moisturise your skin and this product layers up for extra coverage making sure that the blemish is invisible. This product is great for the dark lines under the eyes and makes your eyes look vibrant and fresh.
This is a very reasonable priced product at around £12 , but I ...
