Again, I just have to say how much I adore the full range of mac products. They are all so wonderfully pigmented, and make use of the best ingredients.
PRICING AND PACKAGING/INGREDIENTS
Mac lipsticks cost a somewhat pricey some of £11. However if you take advange of the back to Mac system (whereby you collect 6 glass/plastic mac empties and turn the in for a free lipstick) then you're in heaven! Your only problem would be trying to decide which of the lipsticks you want to try! Each lipstick is 3g in weight and comes in MACs co-ordinating black and silver packaging (making it very easy to show off that you are applying lucious mac to your pouting lips!).
Mac lipsticks are home to one of the greatest colour ranges that I have ever seen in the cosmetic world. With over 200 colours ranging from pink to brown to natural and right back to purple! You're sure to find the exact shade that you want, and probably another 10 that you really need! Aswell as the static range, mac are renowned for bring out special edition shades, and each collection of limited makeup usually houses at least one special lipstick.
LIPSTICK FINISHES
The lipsticks come in a variety of different finishes each giving a different shine, shimmer or matte appeal to the finished lip coat. I've compiled a list here of the different finishes available, the lipsticks will indicate when you are purchasing them which finish they have. I'm a complete lover of the natural matte finish!
Aplified Creme- a creamy shiney finish for an ultra pigmented colour
Frost- shimmery shine finish on top of deep colouring
Glaze- less of the colour, more of the sheen. For just licked lips!
Satin- full of colour, quite matte but very conditioning
Sheer- Whipser of colour
So there you go, there's a lipstick for every occasion!
VIVA LA GLAM- AIDS FUND
MAC sells a special set of lipsticks called 'Viva La Glam', a range which helps the MAC aids fund. Each of the lipsticks 100% profit goes to the fund for Aids. A very worthy charity, and each lipstick is just as good as the others! Pamela anderson is the poster girl for this campaign.
i'm not really a fan of lipsticks, mainly because I usually find the colour too Bold or dark. When I discovered mac lipsticks however, I began to change my mind. With the full range of colours I was able to pick some perfect shades and finishes for me that i really felt comfortable with. They also don't dry your lips out like a lot of other lipsticks, and they stay put (I hate having to reapply lipsticks/glosses every 10 minutes!). I sometimes use my darker shades by wiping the lipstick with my finger and then dabbing it on my lips, this gives a much more natural 'grown up' look. I have a few colours thats I swear by (snob, punkin', romanced) and I really want to try out even more! Because I don't wear the lipsticks every day, they tend to last me for AGES but I think for people who do love to wear their lippy that their stayability will help the lipstick last longer than the average one!
