Advantages: very good, low price processor, overclockable Disadvantages: none as yet
...when i bought a sempron3000+ i didnt imagine it would be as good as it really is, the motherboards that support the sempron's also support quicker dual cores so when the time comes to upgrading again i will be able to buy a dual core with no extra fuss.
i have set up a whole system from scratch and this processor peformed brilliantly, i recomend this processor for all those who want a good low cost solution to upgrading,
NB the overclocking potential is about 1.5 times base. which is awesome and the ram speeds of the motherboards that support this processor are blistering. would recommend something like an ASUS A8V-VM to use with this product as its also a nice peice of engineering...

Advantages: Incredibly cheap, reliable CPU Disadvantages: FSB+Cache could be better
...The Sempron3000+, now a lower end, low cost CPU. Is it still worth buying? In short, yes. I have just this week purchased a new PC, decided on the socket AM2 sempron3000+. So far, so very, very good.
This is a chip that impresses, at around £35, you'd expect a budget, just about usable chip. This is far from reality, running XP professional edition is no longer a hair-loss inducing experience, and even better, I no longer get horrible skips and jumps and pauses through music and video.
For the overclockers, this is a recommended buy. We all know overclocking can be a risky business, but at this price, it really doesn't matter if you do need a new one. As far as overclocking goes, I've seen this chip OC at 50%, and heard it can run stable at more.
Buying an AM2 mainboard for your new chip will also make life much easier...

Advantages: Value for money, speed, reliability, card reader, DVD-Writer Disadvantages: No floppy drive
...available. This being the Sempron3000+ included with the 3023WLMi model - which runs at 1.8GHz when maximum processing power is needed.
The graphics with this laptop are exceptional. Not only is there a dedicated graphics card running on the super fast PCI-Express interface with 128Mb or memory (many other laptops have shared graphics), but my laptop arrived with the X700 model - rather than the X600 which was advertised. If you like games you will not be disapointed.
As far as the main memory goes, 512Mb is a decent amount capable of handling all I need. The same goes for the 80Gb hard disk - which is partitioned into two sections. Because Acer has provided the basics at such a good standard I doubt I will ever think about having to upgrade - in the near future. I have seen laptops priced over £1000 which do not have a decent amount...
