At the airport, as we were going on holiday, we were grabbed by a couple of MBNA reps who persuaded us to give them our details to apply for a credit card in exchange for some free gifts. (a cool bag/satchel and a football which proved fun on holiday) When we returned home, I was amazed to find a MBNA credit card waiting for me with a £2500 credit limit as I am currently on sick benefit. Even stranger was that my boyfriend who has a good secure well paid job received a string of letters asking for more details that he had already given them. He eventually received his card almost 3 months after applying for it. We came to the conclusion that MBNA are only interested in accounts where the balance is unlikely to be paid off so that they can charge interest (I don't plan to give them the satisfaction). They apparently don't care about the accounts where charges are unlikely to apply!
