I had problems with the Halifax and have written an opinion about it. Anyway, this meant I needed a credit card in a hurry. I had a copy of an NFU magazine offering the MBNA/NFU card and decided to go for it. First off, they gave me a higher cedit limit right away. Then, all the information that came with the card was helpful and useful. The low apr on transferred balances (from the Halifax card!) was very good. I usually pay my balance most months, as a result MBNA have raised my limit pretty often - again, this is nice. Then, after having lots of offeres for low rates etc from other companies I phoned MBNA and asked if, as a good customer, they would offer me anything to stay with them. On the spot, over the phone, they agreed to extend the low rate for another six months. I have had to contact MBNA a few times, once over a late payment charge (which, admittedly was my fault) and I have found their telephone staff helpful and friendly. Financial advisors do say we should change our cards every couple of years to take advantage of offers. I will not leave MBNA becuase I find them efficient, friendly, and, competitive.
