Ive had an MBNA Credit Card for around two years now and just wanted to say how please I were with the service. I dont actually ever remember filling out an application form or enqiuring about getting an MBNA card, one just turned up in the post one day. I think I may have went to a concert down in London, had a few beers on the way down and got collered by someone trying to flog them at the area! Before that I had never heard of them!
Whenever I have phoned up the customer service team have always been more than helpful! Its a freephone number and is 24 hours.
However, the thing which really impressed me with MBNA were that around 6 months ago I moved house and were late with one of the payments due to the move. I had a letter from MBNA saying I would be charged a fairly high amount due to the late payment, so I phoned up the MBNA customer services, explained the situation and they were more than helpful and completely cancelled the late payment charge! I were very happy and they were very reasonable.
The only disadvantage I have to say were how high the late payment fee were! Since then I make sure the payments are in the post well before the due date!
So good stuff MBNA, excellent service along with an excellent rate of interest.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Whats is the interest rate? who is the card co-branded with? MBNA do quite a large range of co-branded cards, what about interest free period? minimum payment, payment methods? what is the amount of the late payment charge? on-line facilities - all these would help the op get a higher rating. If the late payment charge is the same as for the standard MBNA card, it is identical to virtually every other UK card issuer, incluing Barclaycard who have now changed their policy on the matter.
