MBNA are the worst company in the history of companies!!! and that is being polite!
The call centre staff can barely grasp the english language and also have no concept of UK methods - eg short term settlement figures, IVA's consolidation loans etc.
we had a loan and CC with MBNA - long story short we decided due to several reasons we would take out a consolidation loan to repay all our creditors. We called MBNA and asked how much it would be to pay off in full - full and final settlement figure (most companies offer reduced amounts in these cases). They gave us a figure, we asked for it in writing, informed that it could only be done via telephone and that it was noted on our account. OK we thought
- we had no reason to believe otherwise, this was a similar situation that I know a friend was in a few years back and her responses were similar.
So we took out our consolidation loan with Picture Finance (whop btw are a fantastic company!) and they wrote cheques for the creditors. We sent these off, also called MBNA to inform them that it had been done - all sorted - so we thought....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We later received a letter saying thanks for your payment of x amount we now require the remainder of y amount???? So we called them. They claim no figure was agreed. It was we explained. After hours and hours and hours on the phone and letters to them from them, call centres that when you explain the situation they simply say - i undertsand mrs XXX do you have a credit or debit card to pay the remainder???? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to say i have screamed in frustratrion, been extremeley stressed out, upset, sleepless nights with this while trying to deal with a small baby and todler is an understatment!
when i finally spoke to someone in this country i thought id had a breakthrough, they said their manager would call me - never happened! surprise surprise - everytime we have managed to get through to a uk call centre the staff have acknowledged that mbna are in the wrong and it will be sorted - strangley these calls are not on our file!!!!
My husband has once again called them today - bearing in mind this has been going on for 6 months now! they have now said that they require a financial statment to consider our offer! We have been advised by a solictor not to do this as it would acknowledge that we are entering into a different agreement to the verbal agreement that they had already made and it was never mentioned in the first instance that this would be required. We have explained this and they SAY that they will assure that the 'offer' will be accepted it is just a case of paperwork - but im unsure to be honest!
We have been to hell and back with this comapny they are bullies, not better than a back street loan shark - if they had said to us in the begining that the figure would have been higher then we would have accounted for this in our conslidation loan and therefore paying them the amount they wanted, but THEY gave us a figure so we paid that figure and the extra £2000 that they want from us for loan and cc is absolutley impossible for us to even consider paying.
we will send them a financial statement as they wish with a letter saying that it by no means suggests that that we are entering into another agreement with them and quite franley they can take us to court! I'd love to explain to the judge what a disgrace this company is, and while i am at it I'd be quite happy to drag their name through every angle of the media that will take this story! they are horrific, imoral and down right rude and should be shut down!
their call centres are usuless, most of which can barely speak english, the others are rude and unhelpful, and when you hit a brick wall with somebody and ask to speak to a supervisor they either say no or hang up and then write a whole lot of nonsense on your record about what the conversation was actually about - when i have requested transcripts of exactley what was said - as suppposedly they record calls they say they have none - hmmmm what a surprise!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY WILL BRING YOU NOTHING BUT GREIF - EVEN IF YOURE NOT ASKING FOR HELP WITH PAYMENTS ETC - THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO GET TO YOU SOMEHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
