Nippy, Reliable Sporty car avaliable at a good price

Advantages: Quick, Attractive, Affordable
Disadvantages: High Insurance

I purchased my 1.4l MG ZR at the turn of 2009, and have been very impressed every since. The prior owner had added a very advanced sound system which suits the car and myself. The cars looks are spot on, it looks enough like a 'boy racer' car to impress your mates yet its suttle enough to blend in during a shopping trip to Tesco. The car comes with Alloys as standard as well as the body kit, spoiler but I would suggest to get some lexus rear lights ...
...quick, its a 1.4l engine but the car is small and light so you can get a good bit off speed and acceleration out of it but you do not lose the comfort that you would with a tricked up 1980 fiesta. Only downside is the insurance, if you are young expect to fork over a lot but the car is very affordable if you go for a well looked after 2002 or 2003 model so you save your money there. Review of MG ZR

VVC power and economy in one!

Advantages: power, styling handling and MPG
Disadvantages: head gasket failour (but not mine)

...later i opted for an MGF i wanted somthing light, powerful and that handled well so the MG was my choice. Able to get around 37MPG and do 0-60 in 7 secs it made perfect sense. The insurance is not to bad for a 24 year old. Looked at getting the basic 1.8 but it only has 118bhp as apposed to 143bhp the vvc has plus the MPG is the same on both models! due to the VVC making the light car very efficient. Had the car for almost a year with no faults! ...

Review of MGF Roadster 1.8

falling to bits

Advantages: thrill driving
Disadvantages: extremely poor build quality

i purchased my 135 TF brand new in June 03. It went and still goes like a bin lid on ice. Then after about 3 years and 15,000 miles the poor quality build emerged from within.........heater controls falling off........nearside electric window stopped working....the constant rattles....squeaky suspension........alarm system kaput........and now today almost 6 years old and 35,000 the drivers door has deadlocked in the closed and locked position. I have purchased a new actuator system ( cos an old boy in a now defunct Rover Garage diagnosed the problem straight away........screeching noise coming from the locking mechanism.).......however now that the offending door is deadlocked it is impossible to open on the fob or the key. the screws keeping the door card on are at the ends of the door and are obscured because the door is deadlocked......Ive tried everything.......taken ...

Review of MG TF

Buy ZT 190 for long term reliability

Advantages: Reasonable running costs, looks different to anything else, performance, reliability
Disadvantages: Ride comfort, some servicing costs

I've owned a very early 190 ZT for three years now, it has been fitted with a torque chip, induction kit & twin stainless exhaust making it look like the V8. This only added about 6BHP to its power output according to the rolling road but torque is incredible, first gear is no longer used unless I need super quick acceleration. Despite the cars incredible weight it will fly from the lights, pins you back into your seat and suprises the boy racers ...
...amazing, other than servicing items it has cost me nothing yet. Like most modern V6 engines cambelt changes are expensive although not required as often as 4 cylinder models so it probably works out reasonable on the whole. It was once left over winter for seven weeks on the drive in freezing temperatures and snow but as soon as I turned the key it was like it was started 5 minutes ago.
