WHEN WE FIRST SAW OUR CAR IT WAS LUST AT FIRST SIGHT!
We walked into the showroom and there it was, the car for us, after weeks of searching. For business purposes and family and dog (3 huskies) commitments, we must have a large estate car.

We purchased the MG ZT-T +180 Automatic with a 2.5 V6 engine giving 177 bhp. It is Front Wheel Drive. Our car is Starlight Silver which gives the 'aluminium' look. It's mean looking from the front and sleek from any other view. The engine sounds great and you can hear the throaty sports sound from the exhaust. Fabulous 18" Alloys and colour coded skirts/bumpers complete the external look.

On the inside, the seats are snug and fit well round the shape of your body, the dash is well equipped with sporty rev counter and speedo in white. The seats are adjustable up/down and forward/back. Lumbar support adjustment on both driver and passenger seats. Airbags for both driver and passenger. Fab Kenwood stereo system with removable front panel and 6 CD changer hidden away in the glovebox. All electric windows with automatic up/down functions. Climate control centre with individual controls for driver/passenger and for the rear passengers. External thermometer/temperature gauge. Adjustable headrests in front and 3 rear seats. Three, 3 point seatbelts in the back, no lapstraps here. Tastefully finished to a high standard. (You can tell BMW are involved in this car, no Rover designs are obvious at all). The interior doesn't feel as large as you would expect from the size externally but it's very comfortable.

This car is a dream to drive and is extremely comfortable on long journeys. It sticks to the road like glue. Stiff sports suspension to thank for that! ABS comes as standard. You can sit at the lights next to any 'boy racer' who thinks your car is a sluggish estate and leave them standing when the lights change. Eat my Dust! It's just as well this car has a great safety rating. For long journeys, the cruise control makes driving so easy.

Thatcham Approved Alarm and immobiliser for the security conscious. Also making the insurance affordable. This car is group 15 and we received a refund from our previous car (a 2.5 V6 Mondeo!). The MG was far cheaper.

On the downside, we do a lot of round town driving and we get approx 18-20 mpg from petrol, long distance comes up to 35 mpg. For this reason, we had an LPG conversion costing an extra £1900. We will get our money back in 18 mths and we'll then be saving. As this car is definitely a 'keeper' it is a good investment.

This is a car that you can be proud to drive, be safe in, looks good, and is also a good utility vehicle. We can pack it full of stock for work and it never struggles with the load.

I would recommend this car as a BMW styled and powered car, for Rover money.

The new generation of MG
Car review of MG ZT-T by rjpickett

Advantages: Well Styled and good fun
Disadvantages: Not as trendy as its competition

...The best part about the MG is it is based on a heritage. When you drive or travel in it you feel part of history, that so much has gone before. Throw away your preconceptions of MG under British Leyland. Things are very very different now. This car has been designed and build with care and will last. The slogan for MG is 'Life is too short' believe me it is, try it and believe it. MG is here and it is here to stay! ... Read review

supurb car!
Car review of MG ZT-T by jammyjammed

Advantages: large space, fast car, comfortable and very cheap to buy now
Disadvantages: can be quite hard to replace some parts now.

we have one of these in our household and have found it to be an exceptional car!. for a 2.5 engine it doesnt produce the best bhp around compared to other 2.5's. but when you put your foot down it just makes you think of every good reason you brought this car. it sounds ace! the car doesnt have the most leg room round but is still very comfortable. you can have a lot of upgrades on the car such as sat nav, which i might add is better than mercedes ... Advantages: Build
Disadvantages: Customer Service at Arnold Clark branches

Bought a 1.8T in june 2004 brand new only did 236 miles in it before it needed a new clutch plate, the garage had the car for near on a month!! The car is fine its just the dealer i bought it from that are useless!! I just serviced the car myself at 12000 mls simple enough to do, only thing hard was the pollen filter which is under the windscreen wipers! u have to take the wipers off & all the plastics underneath them took about an hour and ...

MG ZT-T the best kept secret
Review of MG ZT by  david1605red

Advantages: Looks, handling, quality
Disadvantages: Can't buy them new at the moment

...I spent 3 months looking for a late low mileage MG ZT-T, and a few weeks ago I found one, 05 reg with 30k on the clock, a 2.0 135+ CDTi diesel, fitted with Smartnav. I couldn't be more pleased with this car - it's got stunning looks, good performance, excellent fuel economy, lugs a big load around effortlessly, and has lots of nifty electronic aids that really work. It;s fitted with the BMW 2.0 diesel engine, so I've got a much nicer car than a 320i Touring, for about £3000 less, and with much cheaper servicing costs. The Smartnav system is also great, just press the button and you're connected to a real person (in Bedford, not Bangalore), give them any part of the address or postcode, and the route is downloaded to your car, and constantly updated to avoid traffic incidents. The MG ZT/Rover 75 has now been reborn in China as... Read review

A top notch compromise
Review of BMW 318i by  HappyHarry

Advantages: BMW quality, Appeal, Looks
Disadvantages: Not a load lugger, Pricey

...I opted out of my company car scheme last year. Consequently, I spent a very long time trawling the market, looking to replace the company car that was about to be returned (A MB C-Class Estate). My life style was still the same so was looking for a car I could do 'cruising' higher mileages in for work whilst providing me lots of luggage space for 'activity' holidays few times a year. I looked at the following (in alpha order): Alfa Romeo 156 2.4JTD Sportwagon Audi A4 1.8TDi Estate BMW 318 1.8i SE Touring MB C220 Classic Estate MG ZT-T+ Saab 9-3 2.0i Estate Volvo V70 2.4 SE Estate (ex-demonstrator) All of these cars are very competant. My main buying criteria were Drive, Equipment/Options, and Cost of ownership over 3 years - with a max £24k budget. As I was going to be taking out a personal loan (repaid by my car... Read review

A SERIOUS PAIN IN THE ARSE
Review of MG ZT by  Eva

Advantages: Performance, Looks (exterior), Heritage, Rarity, Standard Equipment
Disadvantages: Ride, Looks (interior), Competitors, Sound System, Excessive Tyre & Wind Noise

...MG IN THE MORNING, MG IN THE NIGHT… MG BABY, BABY… MG WHEN YOU HOLD ME TIGHT! Why do Rovers have a pipe and slippers image? Post 1995 cars have been quite sporty to drive and whilst not cutting edge nor design icons they deserved a bit more credit than they were given. Then of course Rover got in a spot of trouble and we had the whole BMW fiasco, but I won’t go into that. Since then standard Rovers have been pretty good (especially the Rover 75 which is the car the MG ZT is based upon), if not class leading. MG for those who don’t know is part of Rover, at least in a working relationship… I’m not sure if BMW kept MG for themselves, I know they kept Mini. Anyway… MG’s current range of cars are all based on standard Rover cars (apart from the soon to be replace MGF). All are seriously sporty alternatives to the standard... Read review
