Reviews of MIDI Equipment »
Easily portable, playable and great value
Advantages: Very convenient and well-planned Disadvantages: Company not well-established (support?)
Why bother buying a CME keyboard when there are plenty others, with more established names: Edirol, M-Audio, Korg, Novation - to name but a few? Well, there are a couple of reasons:
1) It is very compact and easily portable. Not an inch of space is wasted. It is probably the narrowest 49-key keyboard, as well as one of the slimmest. You can easily carry it with you, put it on your desk and even keep it on your lap!
2) Key action is quite good. ... ...it is better than the Edirols, Yamahas and quite a few other keyboards and MIDI-controllers I have tried. The action is quite firm, but not hard. I usually do not fancy so called "weighed" keyboards. I don't know why, but they do not have the same action as a real grand piano. Sure, there is some "hammer-like" effect in these expensive keyboards, but it certainly does not compare to a real piano's hammer mechanism. So this keyboard is something in-between ...

Piano Action, full featured controller at minimal price! Perfect
Advantages: Hammer action, vast amount of controls and adjustability Disadvantages: None to date.
...extra knobs, buttons and faders? M-Audio have pulled all of this out the bag with the Keystation Pro 88. This MIDI controller has 88 full size and hammer weighted action keys. For anyone whos not aware, hammer weighted keys are the equivalent of how a piano feel, compared to many semi weighted keyboards. In my own time as much as I love to write new music via MIDI and vst instruments on the computer, Im also a big fan of the piano and wanted something ... ...with pianos being thousands of pounds and very big in size, I knew they wouldnt be what I wanted, so I searched for this product. Along with the great feeling hammer action keys, it comes with a big blue LCD screen, making it very easy to see exactly what you are adjusting. There are 9 fantasic MIDI-assignable faders, which are perfect for mixing in any software for songs. There are 24 MIDI-assignable rotary controllers, making them perfect for any ...

The Novation Nio 2 is a fantastic bit of kit for anyone who's into home recording.

Even better it has a switch which allows you to use condensor mics ...

X25 Photon, or just protons?
Advantages: Ease of use, many interchangeable settings Disadvantages: AXYZ dome
Well the Alesis photon X25, is your standard 25 key midi interface, with a few more adjustable settings than most.
Looks: With its sleek design, Led lights, an the AXYZ dome. This thing can be beautriful, but mainly by your own opinion. Im sure many would say it is quite some what ugly with the Organge LED's. But as with most things, these LED's are in actualy fact functional.
Ease of Installation:
After plugging in, all you have to do is dunk ... ...you wish to install Cubase LE, an included product with this, then your installation will be a little more complicated, but not a lot.
Feel:
The keys feel comfortable, however, at times they do not pick up the sound if you play very softly, but generally all is well. The sound changing knobs are well spread out, and the different sounds can be added with the use of the 10 sound buttons. configuring:
With the small inbuilt screen, it is quite simple ...
