Go Gear hits a flat note Advantages: Lots of storage space, compact, can play mp3's and videos Disadvantages: Video quality is poor, the sound is thin The Go Gear is Phillips response to the excellent ipod and the Sansa mp3 player. I was bought this mp3 player last year and am still undecided about this one. Firstly though it allows the standard fare of being playing mp3 files and WMA files but it also allows for video playback. It is nice to have this additional feature on the phone but it definitely comes secondary to the music. The screen seems a little but the options are presented in a concise ... ...available to you. The options include playing by artist/all/album. The first thing I noticed when playing music is the sound is surprisingly flat. I adjusted the tone controls and added bass boost to the song. This did provide a more fuller sound but it seemed to do so at the expense of the midrange. So nearly a great MP3 Player Advantages: Sound quality. Expensive looking glossy finish. An insult to working MP3 Players Advantages: Makes a good paperweight Disadvantages: where to begin? Crashes/freezes often, tacky looking, difficult to use This MP3 layer is an insult to all other mp3 players out there which actually work. The thing constantly freezes up on you (upon which you have to restart it by pressing the volume up and power key together). When it freezes the thing will keep playing through the playlist, wasting your power but refuses to take any kind of instruction from you, the owner. The picture slideshow function sounds nifty, if only I could get it to work. This thing has ... ...of use, everything you do with it must be an adventure in of itself! For 6 gigs you get a good number of songs, and the windows media player sync ability works out quite well in that regard, but nothing else really works up to snuff. pretty good but not very interesting Advantages: simple, good sound quality, personal colour, really like radio Disadvantages: small, boring, small GB's In my opinion sansa is a very reliable and effective alternative to ipods. I think that this paticular sansa mp3 is a little boring because of poor graphics and unimaginative effects but the sound quality (which is the most important thing) is pretty good and the device is simple and easy which from my point of view is very valuable.
