Samsung YP-U2R 2GB

Advantages: Samsung, lot of space, lasts heavy use.
Disadvantages: It can only charge through USB.

...product I have had from Samsung was great and longlasting, with usually the options you want on that product. This is a 2GB ( 1964MB? ) MP3 player, even though it supports alot of other audiofiles. It will not play videos or display pictures, its pure music. ---- Functions ----- The obvious ones first: Hold - Unless you slide it from hold again no button will respond. Next - Play next track ( does not work in 'hold' ) Prev - Play previous track ...
...Add 1 to the volume ( to a maximum of '30' ) Minus - Subtract 1 of the volume ( to a minimum of '0' ) The cool ones next: M - Menu, okay, enter, it pretty much just works as the button you need, it rocks, its nice and solid, and nicely positioned in the center of 4 buttons. User/ *red dot* - Means Record, this is where you can record audio files yourself, and the mic picks up quite alot of sound, and the quality is reasonable. One problem, it ...

Nice player, with many quirks

Advantages: Many diverse functions
Disadvantages: Functions often underdeveloped, firmware development already stopped.

...MP3 tags) or from within Samsung Media Studio (which additionally supports OGG tags and cover art; software available only for Windows) Video: Because the maximum capacity with which the T9 is sold is 8 GB, which most users will use for music, the video function remains a gimmick. The only videos playable are DivX-Avis created with Samsung Media Studio. As the frame rate of videos is as low as 15 per second, movement does not look smooth. The videos ...
...to computers using a proprietary Samsung USB plug (which makes it hard to ever find a new cable should you lose the one coming with your player). When connecting the T9 to a computer it always begins charging (which takes about four hours to complete -- a resulting battery uptime of about 25 hours seems more realistic than 30 hours); there is no good way to connect the player to a socket -- generic power-plug-to-USB chargers are incompatible. The ...

Samsung YP-T10 8GB

Advantages: sleek but simple - a great alternative to ipods, with the added bonus of bluetooth
Disadvantages: faulty touchscreen keys, slow scrolling

...had numerous problems installing the Samsung software on my computer. Eventually it installed, but I found the Samsung music organiser not as convenient or easy to use as Windows Media Player, so I still use that to syncronise my music to the player. Since buying it, I am regularly shown new downloads to update the player, which I have found easy to install. On the whole I have actually noticed that these updates have made a visible improvement to ...
...charge it with a standard Samsung phone charger. The Bluetooth function was one of the key features that attracted me to this product at first. It's brilliant for transferring music and pictures from mobile phones etc, and you can also set it up to work as the keypad(this is a bit too fiddly though) and headphones for your phone, meaning it will pause the track while you recieve a call though the player, working as a handsfree set. Definately the ...

...as downloading songs. The samsung media player is good, and easy to use, but the only problem is, you need to rip the songs onto the computer from a cd for them to appear on the media player. The other songs you want to put on, you can sync on from windows media player, however they appear at the end of the list of songs on the mp3 player. The order that the songs automatically go in is the number they were on that cd. Each set of songs that are ...

Samsung Yepp. It's good, so get one.

Advantages: Timeless Design, Easy to Use, Robust, Compact, Equaliser presets are good, Good Microphone
Disadvantages: 32M not enough, Memory cards still too expensive

You can tell a product is designed well when you can still impress your friends with it years later. I got mine when I was in uni and I still use it on a regular basis. It still looks good, still works good, and of course still sounds good. It's much smaller than a CD player, and the sound quality is just as good. Plus the batteries seem to last longer than a CD player, probably because they don't have to move mechanical componentry. I hook mine ...
...headphones or to my sound system at home, and the sound quality in each case is excellent. The preset equaliser settings are appropriate to the style of music, and make a major difference. I also use mine to record meetings at work. Provided the Yepp is in a good position for microphone pick-up, the audio is good enough to make out what is being said, even if the speaker is a couple of metres away. Certainly much better than my dictaphone. The durability ...
