...I was building a PC on a budget over a year ago, and was looking for a solution that offered a good price/performance ratio. It was then that I stumbled across a new concept in motherboards - nVidias nForce chipset.

This MSI motherboard utilises nVidia's nForce chipset.
nVidias nForce (now superceded by the nForce2 and 3) was and is a milestone in motherboard technology. Never before had so many competent technologies been bundled into one board.
The chipset main features are:
Support for Duron/Athlon/XP processors with an FSB of 100/133mhz
...and thus 200/266mhz DDR RAM memory in DUAL CHANNEL mode.
Integrated nVidia Geforce2MX-class 'crush' graphics
Integrated nVidia SoundStorm Dolby Digital 5.1 sound

Below the LCD is the card reader to which several types of media can be plugged, including memory sticks and memory cards (MMC/CF/SD). You can choose to install a floppy drive by replacing the card reader with the included front panel. Below the card reader is a lid that hides connectors to sound, USB and Firewire.
The rear of the MegaPC is filled with connections as well. Serial and parallel ports are included for legacy support and the standard keyboard and mouse ports are present. Also present are ports for video output (from the onboard graphics), network, modem, USB and sound. Unique to the MegaPC is the AM/FM connection sitting at the rear top right of the case.
An optional part is the PAL TV Tuner from MSI. But unless you find yourself with a TV that can do both PAL...

...I purchased the RS482M4-ILD motherboard on 10th November 2005.
The board arrived complete with a variety of cables. The board was well packaged and looks quite robust.

What you get in the box:Amongst the cables there is a SATA power cable and a SATA motherboard to disk cable.
You also get 1 IDE and 1 Floppy cables. There is a Serial port via ribbon cable, TV S-Video and SPDIF connectors and 8channel sound via another cable.
MSI provide software that includes a utility for checking all the updates available for your motherboard.
This works well and it will inform you if your software is current or not. You can select all the updates that you want.
