...* impressive that Old Trusty can't compete. It's Cute Puppy versus Aged Hound and it's a fight where there is no way the puppy's going to lose. So, I took the old mutt down to my local independent computer shop to check out the deals for refurbishment or upgrade with trade-in (as the ACER 1300DV was on the right side of the gigahertz processing barrier to get me at least £75 off - I was surprised, I got £150 off). Which is where the problems began... I saw the ACER ASPIRE 9303WSMi the second I walked into the shop. And it was lust at first sight: Irrational, tech-hungry, I'm-buying-that-one lust. 1.6ghtz dual-core, 1GB RAM, large 17" screen, DVD+R reading capacity, 160GB hard drive, 256MB GE Force graphics and a brand I trust. I was lucky enough to get mine for next to nothing thanks to an insurance claim which resulted in my Acer Aspire laptop being replaced. The price-tag of this machine is very reasonable given the specifications: **AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology (1.6 Ghz, 2 x 512kb L2 cache)** This processor is more than capable of running Windows Vista Business edition, smoothly and efficiently under the beautiful Vista Aero interface. The processor is your laptops "brain" carrying out all the various calculations and instructions - after all, everything in the world of computers boils down to a 1 or 0!
