After a few of my friends reccomended this eyeliner to me I decided to try it. I am not the glittery eyeliner type of person but I like to have a nice one on hand for special occasions and fancy dress parties. The Make Up Academy is Superdrug's own range and all of the items in it are priced at just £1, so I knew when I bought this that even if I didn't like it, it wouldn't be a huge waste of money. I bought mine online as it was out of stock in my local Superdrug which I guess is a good sign as it's obviously very popular.
There are a range of shades to choose from - around 10. Most of these colours are very bright and vibrant - pink, blue, neon green, etc. I decided to stick to a reasonably subtle shade and got it in shade 10. It looks like black on the website but it is actually a very dark grey.
The eyeliner comes in a transparent, sturdy plastic tube. It reminds me alot of a lipgloss tube. The tube holds 1.6ml of product which lasts for quite a while. The eyeliner can be seen through the tube and it looks really well pigmented and sparkly. The black lid screws off and it has the applicator attatched to it which is black. It is not a brush applicator like I expected - it has a flat, rubber tip which I find easier to use and less fiddly than a brush and it dispenses the product evenly and smoothly, in my opinion anyway - I really like it.
The glitter eyeliner itself is very thick. It has quite a gloopy texture so it is important to get a small amount of it on your applicator rather than loads of else it will look too over the top. The eyeliner has a coloured base which for the price I think is good - it isn't just a sheer liquid with glitter stuck in it. The glitter in this eyeliner is very fine, it isn't chunky or scratchy like some glitter eyeliners can be but it's noticeable and the sparkle is lovely - just right, not too sparkly but not totally unnoticeable.
The eyeliner really brightens up my eyes and adds a nice touch of glammer to my eye makeup. It can go a little patchy over time (3/4 hours) but their is minimal glitter fallout which is good - the eyeliner holds it in to the liquid really well. I usually wear mine over a black matte eyeliner. That way my eyeliner acts as a primer, plus my eye makeup doesn't look patchy or uneven when it the glitter eyeliner starts to go patchy and faded. It can be worn on either the eyelid, lower lashline or upper lashline. I was a bit concerned about using it on my lower lashline as I have sensetive eyes and was concerned that their would be glitter fallout/it would get in my eye, but I have had no issues with irritation etc.
Overall this a well priced, highly pigmented eyeliner which I would reccomend.
