I came across the MUA (Make Up Academy) Glitter Eyeliner in Superdrug for just £1.00 and I was so surprised about the price that I couldn't help but buy it to try it. Infact all of the MUA range is priced at £1.00 which is really an outstanding price if you just want to try a product - and obviously if it's not what you're looking for then it's not a huge loss. However, I have to say that my initial impressions were good because I thought that the packaging was really very professional and didn't look cheap at all.
I have worn glitter eyeliner many times - and have used a variety of different brands, Urban Decay being my favourite but it is obviously about 10 times as expensive as the MUA brand. I was impressed by the range of colours available, including silver, gold, purple. pink, green and grey. The two colours that really jumped out at me were the green and purple - and I opted for the purple because I currently have a green Urban Decay version and so I didn't feel the need to double up. The tube is transparent and so it's possible to see the colours perfectly before buying and what you see is what you get. When applied the purple is a lovely vibrant and rich colour with just enough glitter in it for it to look sparkly without it being overpowering.
The applicator is different that unusual in as much as it is little a rubbery blade rather than a brush. Initially I thought that this was going to make application a little tricky, but actually I found application using this applicator was smoother and therefore neater. I find when I use a brush applicator that the eyeliner can be thinner as it runs out on the brush towards the end of the sweep, but I didn't find this to be the case with this. The stability factor is also great and it will last for the full day once it's been applied.
The eyeliner is also quite thin and so it's not too heavy and it can look quite subtle if you want it to look subtle. I often want to wear a bit of glitter just to perk my look up a little, but I also don't want to look like a drag queen and it can be quite difficult sometimes to get the balance right.
Overall, I think this is a really good product and I would recommend it. I think the price tag is fantastic!
