When I first start getting interested in music production on a computer i bought the Oxygen 8 and was extremely pleased with it. I do not have much experience with piano theory so for those more into playing chords and more in depth structures, may find this keyboard limiting. But for those who are interested in the modern craze that is digital music production and its infinite amount of synthesizers, drum machines and effects, then this is defenitely a very nice way of accessing all those sounds. The Oxygen 8 is good because its cheap, its sturdy, it will last and it might the only midi keyboard you will ever need. In order to get sounds out of it you will need a computer with a music production program such as Reason or cubase. The Oxygen 8 is a USB keyboard and should start working as soon as you plug it in. It has 8 knobs which can be used to automate any virtual knobs which are within the programs in your music production program. This can be very fun and allows you to control effect changes and then record them. The keyboard also features a pitch control wheel and modulation for more effects. Overall an essential purchase for any beginning digital musician.
Advantages: User friendly, portable, light Disadvantages: Not long enough for some compositions/ limiting
I first used this product at college and i got on with it so I decided to buy one.
Great piece of kit, durable, light, easy to transport and has a range of different switches, knobs, buttons and wheels to play with to get desired sounds and effects.
All the buttons, switches etc. are all midi-mappable which is great for using with Logic/ Reason and the like.
The only downside is that it is small, but for a small device it is fantastic!

Advantages: Light, Durable. Practible! Disadvantages: Not many keys.
Absolute brilliant piece of hardware. If you're like me and produce music from home in your studio or just getting started out in producting music. Then this is for you! Do you use Ableton Live, Sonar 6, Reason, or Logic? This piece of hardware will connect so simply through USB. It will work even if your computer is not that good! The 8 knobs are very useful for live recordings and effects. The keyboard is touch sensitive. Very cheap price as well.

Advantages: Great Midi Keyboard/Controller. Disadvantages: none
As im a music Producer, I use a number of Midi Keyboards when i go to studios. M-audio keyboards are levels abouve the rest within the industry. I previously i owned the smaller version of this the Oxygen8v2, which i loved, howeveras i was progressing as a musician, it was limiting me on the mellodies i was composing as there wernt enough keys. So i upgraded to the Oxygen 61 which is what im currently using. Im extremely happly with it so far, and feel that it meets all of my requirements not just as a Midi Keyboard but also as a Controller Interface for software like 'Reason'. The Modulation and Pitch Bend Sliders are very useful while recording to generate different effects.
This keyboard includes everything you need as a producer to start making music of a high standard, Pitch & Modulation wheels, programmable buttons/panners/ 9 ...
