When I first start getting interested in music production on a computer i bought the Oxygen 8 and was extremely pleased with it. I do not have much experience with piano theory so for those more into playing chords and more in depth structures, may find this keyboard limiting. But for those who are interested in the modern craze that is digital music production and its infinite amount of synthesizers, drum machines and effects, then this is defenitely a very nice way of accessing all those sounds. The Oxygen 8 is good because its cheap, its sturdy, it will last and it might the only midi keyboard you will ever need. In order to get sounds out of it you will need a computer with a music production program such as Reason or cubase. The Oxygen 8 is a USB keyboard and should start working as soon as you plug it in. It has 8 knobs which can be used to automate any virtual knobs which are within the programs in your music production program. This can be very fun and allows you to control effect changes and then record them. The keyboard also features a pitch control wheel and modulation for more effects. Overall an essential purchase for any beginning digital musician.
