(+) Great user interface, fantastic templates, nice speed bumps, (-) Still not as robust as Microsoft Office, some slowdowns when working on very large files
Advantages: Great integration, amazing concept Disadvantages: Price, upload speeds are poor, lack of space

Backup Documents Groups Library Movies Music Pictures Public Sites Software Web
The standard package come with 1GB of file and email storage, b ut this can be increased to 2 or 4GB at a cost.
If you like to share photos, movies, blogs, podcasts and websites, then this package integrates right into the iLife package, making it literally one click to upload you latest iWeb website or GarageBand track.
--Uses--
-Website Hosting You can use the service to upload your website for others to se. It integrates straight into iWeb, so that publishing is done with one click ease. Your email address will me http://web.mac.com/USERNAME/
- Backup You can arrange for incremental backups of your files onto your iDisk using Apple's software - Backup 3 - or by manually uploading (drag and drop.)
- Email account When you sign up, your username will become your '.Mac passport' and this will give you access to an ad-free email address - USERNAME@mac.com
- iSync You can use .Mac to share your iCal calendars, Safari bookmarks, Address Book contact and a whole variety of information from your Mac applications.
- As a 'Flash drive' Provided your destination has access to the internet, you can use your iDisk to upload your current projects or music etc. so that at the other end you can review it, or play it back. It is really convenient as you cannot lose your flash drive or leave it at home. Also, you can save document direct to iDisk, for added ease.
- Blog This is basically a subcategory of the hosting part, as your blog (created in iWeb or whatever) can be hosted on your .Mac account.
- Learning Centre Gain access to many step-by-step tutorials on iLife applications, Mac OSX and other mac applications. Here Apple offer Quicktime videos showing your way through various applications and they offer documents and files for you to try your new skills out on
--Installation--
It is less installation that registration really, you just have to type in the code which comes in the box and then you are registered. Your account is active for 1year after that point.
--Value for Money--
This is where .Mac lets itself down. I think for the £70ish a year, this service is a bit of a rip off.
+Pros Great concept Useful for small documents Easy tutorials in the learning centre Integrates really well with standard Apple software
-Cons Slow upload speeds Cannot use flash on the websites has to be a 'simple' web page Pricey You only get 512MB of storage space, the other 512MB is reserved for Mail
The main question is does the functionality out do the cost, and in my eyes the answer is no, there are far more cost effective methods of doing the same thing, but you will not have the integration that .Mac offers.
Overall, I would only recommend this product to beginners to the world of Mac and Apple.
Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: Lack of customer service/ difficult to cancel
I used .mac for a year and I am not very pleased with the service I receieved.
For anyone who doesnt know very much about it basically .mac is a supscription service for Apple Computer Users. It includes mail, web hosting, i-disk (online hard disk) and a bundle of other useless features.
Firstly .Mac used to come with a virus application, they stopped providing this in the fee and it greatly reduced the value for money.
The mail service is not ... ...as reliable.
Customer Service is difficult to find/non-existent.
It is an expensive package for web hosting - there are much cheaper options available.
A lot of features are available free on the internet or are included with your ISP.
Finally its difficult to cancel. I have had to request MasterCard refund my money as apple automatically recharge your card even when you cancel the account online. - Naughty and not very ethical. ...

Advantages: .mac email address Disadvantages: price, sense that you have been robbed :(
...really not too impressed with .mac at all. It is overpriced, you get nothing in the box at all which leaves you with a fealing that youve got nothing for your money!
Inside the box you get some basic instructions informing you where to enter your serial number, along with your serial number. After you have entered your serial number you receive an email from mac informing you that your account has been activated and you now have 1GB space for 1 ... ...wasnt bad actually, with the .mac account it was on the internet in seconds and it wasnt bad quality. The .mac email is very usefull but again, it isnt worth paying this much every year for, persoanlly i think the .mac email is the only thing that im actually using at the moment so thats why i think its a little poor value for money. My advice to you would be to test out the iLife programs for a few days and see if you actually use them, because ...

Advantages: Very similar to Windows XP Disadvantages: Very different from Mac OS 9
I use an Mac for work purposes and a PC at home. On the Mac, time is of great importance and every feature that saves time saves money and there are quite a few great time saving features on Mac OS X that do just that!
If you are a PC user and currently use Windows XP then the new operating for the Apple Mac will be very appealing to you. It is very similar in many ways to that of Windows XP. One of the main differences that Mac OS X has which is one of my favourite features is that it has what is called a dock. This is a bar that can sit either at the bottom of the screen or on either side and you can use it to add in short cuts to all your software. Also if you have folders that you access alot and you don't want to keep trying to find them all the time then you can add them to the dock. All you then have to do is go to the dock ...
Advantages: Office compatibility on OSX Disadvantages: "Adapted" feel rather than "Written-for"
Intel Mac users because of the native ability to run Windows)
Anyway, "Office:Mac" as it is rather pretentiously named is a port of some familiar applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a completely OSX developed e-mail client called Entourage. Much of the basic functionality of these applications is identical to the Windows versions, as one would expect, but with subtle differences. Let's take a look at each application:

I personally grew up on Windows-based PCs and used Word ever since I was little. I recently (last few years) had to buy a Mac for my work and bought this edition of Office. Because I was so used to using Word on a PC, the first things I noticed ...
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Not much at all
interface is completely new. Apple call this the 'Aqua' system, and it's main function is a funky blue colour throughout the system on folders, with horizontal lines across it. This is apparant in many applications, the toolbars, the Dock and loads of other stuff.
-CARBON? COCOA? CLASSIC? ALL THE 'C's YOU WANT-
On OS X, applications are split in to three different schemes. Carbon is the main scheme that most applications run under. Carbon will also work on OS 8 and 9, if you have the free CarbonLib extensions running. A good example of this is 'MacSolitare' and MSN Messanger which, before upgrading, I had as Carbon applications on OS 9. It's relatively easy for a developer to make a carbon, and is just one of those easy jobs to do. For designers out there (which make up about 90% of the Mac using population, Illustrator's new version (10) is ...
