After more than two years from its first Launched. The Mac OS X 10.5 a.k.a Leopard. Is the most flexible, powerful and easy to use OS. One of the greatest Apple ever released. The first Apple OS I lay hands on when I first bought the Black MacBook ever since I was a little kid still goofing off with Apple IIe BASIC language programming.

The Mac OS X 10.5 leopard is very easy to use, For those people who transform themselves into a first-timer Mac-User should adapt very easily using this OS. This UNIX based OS have lots of my most favorite key features. EVERY part of the OS is operated with just as easy as a click of your mouse.

My Favorite Key Features

* The Desktop

Organize your open windowed apps so easily, you can even have up to four desktop with each apps assigned to it using Spaces And up to as many app layers as you want

* Time Machine

This is a backup features that is configurable in your demand, backing up your system and data files is never been this easy. For you who have lots of file editing and then lost the document, you can easily browse back using Time Machine to go back to where your file is last edited.

System backup using Time Machine is also cool. Whenever you have a problem in the futre, for an example is Hard Drive failure. You wont need to worry. just purhcase a new HDD and restore the time machine in to the new HDD.. Boot it up and It will restore your system and data exactly the same as before your previous system crashed. Pretty cool isn't it ?

Note: I strongly suggest you have an external HDD to use Time Machine, and even better if you have the external HDD size is as same or even more than your HDD size in your device. For example, if you have a MacBook with 160GB HDD, then at least you have 160GB of Ext HDD for time machine. The theory is you can have any size of HDD for Time Machine since you can configure which data to backup using Time Machine. But is it better to just Backup your whole HDD ?

* Quick Look

This is a great feature to preview any documents or images or photos or anything without opening the Application software. just select the file and hit Spacebar you can have a quick look of the content of the file. For instance, you want to view a PDF document, you dont need to launch Adobe Reader to view it, just select the file and have a Quick Look, and you will see the entire content of the document. A very nice addition to Finder (Mac OS File Explorer)

* Boot Camp

First time I use this is so great!, you can have windows booted up in your mac. its so easy.
But the only thing I dont like is, Boot Camp requires to make a seperate partitions (FAT32) in order to have windows run in your mac. A nice features though if you want to just boot Windows natively in your mac.

I Personally prefer using a Virtual Machine to boot Windows right in my Mac OS X leopard system :)
So you can still use Mac Apps and windows Apps at the same time !

Security

The security of Leopard is absolutely great, set up your user access with privileges to secure your data.
One thing I love the most, No need for an Anti Virus software installed ! If you set up the right configurations in your leopard, you wont be worrying about viruses trying to attack your system.

I have almost 2,5 years using Leopard, not a single virus dropped by attacking. Although there are some antivirus softwares for Mac out there, but I personally dont need them (yet at the moment .. for years..)

Installation

The installation will require very little "technician knowledge" just a few clicks here and there, then the installation process will start, and the next boot, you can start using your Mac.

Actually above features are just a tiny counts of more than 300 features available in Leopard. I'm just trying to explain and review the general features like above for you people who are interested to be a Mac User and try this sweet OS out !

Good overview of Leopard. I've been a huge Mac fan for over 15 years and this is their best OS yet, though I do miss some of the old-fashioned features of their old systems such as the smiling Mac when you boot up!
