OS X 10.5 Leopard is fast, stable and has a set of new features.
Time Machine to back up and restore you files, Spaces to organize your desktop and keep you more organized, Quick Look to preview and browse your files without even opening a program, Stacks to keep you desktop clean and free from large amounts of files and to organize downloads, Cover Flow for a visually stunning way to browse you Pictures applications and other files. Parental controls include Bedtime and time limits. Many kids would sit at the computer for days if you let them. Fortunately, Leopard makes it easier to set the rules. Just enter bedtime and time limits for using the Mac, specifying different times for weekdays and weekends if you wish. Parental controls can also log your kids' activities to help you keep them from communicating with people they shouldn't be. The log keeps track of websites your kids have visited, applications they've used, and people they've chatted with. It's the perfect way to make sure your children stay safe online. You can access the parental controls and monitor logs remotely from any Mac on the network. Spotlight in Leopard lets you search for more specific sets of things. Use Boolean logic to narrow search results by entering AND, OR, or NOT in a search request. Search for exact phrases using quotation marks, or search for items by dates or ranges using > and < symbols. And now you can even use Spotlight to perform simple calculations. Just enter numbers and operators, then hit Return. Very handy.
Leopard is also compatible with 64 bit computers and is built from top to bottom to support them, so it runs fantastic on new Core 2 duo Macs with 64 bit support. Networking has also been improved to give a very nice speed increase in both transferring large files and to improve the speed of broadband connections. Improved Calendar and Mail with templates are fantastic you have invitations, birthdays greetings and more, change fonts, colors, and drag-and-drop photos your iPhoto library everything you need for the perfect email Mail also has built in RSS support so you can get news and information in your mail application. Safari Browser is faster and more stable and has a webclip feature to save live pages and show them in the Dashboard and has improved Tabs, you can open and switch between multiple web pages in a single window. Drag and drop your tabs to rearrange them, open one in a new browser window, or merge all your current windows into one tabbed window.. Photobooth even better fun for the kids and you will struggle to get them of it with all the built in effects.
This is a winner and worthy successor to OS X 10.4 Tiger.
Advantages: 300+ new features, time saving, great system! Disadvantages: none?
...I bought a new Powerbook earlier this year which came preloaded with this, the latest mac operating system.
The new interface is great! it comes with extra programs including boot camp, this allows you to run multiple operating systems from your mac, on start up you simply hold the 'options' key and the choice comes up of which os you boot from, i thought it would be very slow, but it works at regular speed and works seamlessly! its like having three separate computers! a mac, windows and Linux all at once!
Another new feature is 'quick look' you can view a file in a scrolling album style interface without actually opening them, works the same with music and video, this is very good and saves opening programs constantly. It can zoom so you can view and read word, excel and PowerPoint docs without actually opening them!
Time machine is...

Advantages: Very easy to install and use, more than 300 cool features Disadvantages: none
...After more than two years from its first Launched. The MacOSX 10.5 a.k.a Leopard. Is the most flexible, powerful and easy to use OS. One of the greatest Apple ever released. The first Apple OS I lay hands on when I first bought the Black MacBook ever since I was a little kid still goofing off with Apple IIe BASIC language programming.
The MacOSX 10.5 leopard is very easy to use, For those people who transform themselves into a first-timer Mac-User should adapt very easily using this OS. This UNIX based OS have lots of my most favorite key features. EVERY part of the OS is operated with just as easy as a click of your mouse.
My Favorite Key Features
* The Desktop
Organize your open windowed apps so easily, you can even have up to four desktop with each apps assigned to it using Spaces And up to as many app layers as you...

Advantages: Many new features, Full support for Windows Disadvantages: OS upgrades used to be free
...MacOSX 10.5 Leopard is the biggest update to the Mac operating system since OSX was first released. It is the first update that I would recommend purchasing on it's own rather than waiting till you need to upgrade to a new Macintosh computer. Some of the most useful features are Time Machine which is a one button backup system (it requires an external hard drive), Spaces, an application that helps organize applications when multitasking , and Bootcamp that allows Windows XP or Vista to load natively on Intel Macintosh computers. Bootcamp alone gives you the functionality of having a whole other computer if you need to run windows applications and don't wish to use a program like parallels or virtual PC that don't run at native speeds. Quicklook and Stacks in the dock are both excellent time saving features. Quicklook allows a small...
