It the moment OSX Panther is defiantly the best operating system. Its is the piece of software to start Microsoft's downfall.
Its has a very trendy, modern and usable interface which is easily to modify to your own visual liking.
Intel Apple have never been as popular as PCs, except in media or design business, and most people generally steered clear due to a lack of software available and having never used it. This however should all start to change as Panther is not only incredibly easy to use, but with the power of Apple computers it is posable to have the best of both world and run OSX Panther and Windows XP at the same time using Virtual PC.
Like Windows it also comes with a few arcade style games and a word processing package which also includes a drawing, painting, spread sheet and database programs.
MACs own web browser is called Safari, and although mac also has Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari can be up to four times faster loading pages.
Apple Works can seem slightly daunting at first if you are used to Microsoft Office, but you will soon find that it is probably easier to use.
Transferring documents from MAC to Windows is some times a problem, but this can be sorted out with Virtual PC(which i mentioned earlier) or by saving a document as a PDF file. There is also a piece of software available called iWORK 05 with which files can be saved as a Microsoft Powerpoint file.
Overall it is a near perfect system with none of the flaws XP has. It does not crash when too many windows are open ect. . .
You will enjoy using this system and be glad to be rid of Windows.
ps. ive hade a comment from someone saying they would like to know which software is avalable on it. so id sike to make it clear again.
Mac itself has limited software avalable. Lots and lots of design and editing stuff and there is a company called macsoft which formates pc games for mac. The program i talked about earlier called virtualPC enable you to use both mac and mindows software. so therefor you can use anything really provided you are not too worried about putting XP on a Mac whick to be honest is something i am going to try and aviod because I can imagine XP causing problems.

(+) Superb screen, superior speakers, huge capacity, multiplicity of functions, brilliant photo suite (-) A new 'language' to learn and company support not as good as one would expect.
