Until recently, I'd sworn by L'oreal foundations, and found these to sit well and last the day. However, as is the case with a lot of brands, the shades were always just a touch too light or too dark. I was drawn to Mac because of the range of shades on offer. Perhaps it was just my experience, but I found the lady who served me in-store to be refreshingly blunt. Instead of the usual false air one encounters at cosmetic stands, she was extremely professional, while also flat-out telling me what didn't suit my skin tone, and also which type of foundation I should go for, based on my borderline oily skin. Again, I'm not sure if this was unique to the store I visited, but I found it extremely refreshing! Select SPF 15 comes in a 30ml bottle, and unlike the testers, doesn't have a pump at the top. I found this quite cumbersome, as its difficult to pour the exact amount you need. The foundation itself is light, and gives just the right amount of coverage for me. Those looking for a heavier coverage mightn't be satisfied (I find I need to layer it on to cover a small red mark on my cheek for example), but apart from this it gives a beautiful clear complexioned look. Maybe its because the shade was so close to my skin tone, but I found it really easy to apply and blend, and have never felt that 'caked' feeling you get with some liquid foundations. The SPF I can't comment on (!), but I haven't noticed any adverse effects like sunspots etc since I changed. The only downside to Select SPF 15 is its setting powers. I've touched my face lightly during the day, only to come away with a sticky feeling. I also find it doesn't withstand the heat that well, but in saying that, I like it enough overall to carry it with me and top up as necessary! at £16, its not the cheapest out there, but if you don't mind re-applying in hot weather, the range of skin tones and the beautifully light coverage are definately worth it.
