You may call me a snob, but I hate cheap clothes. I would rather pay a little more for quality and know it will last. I had never been in Mackays as I have always been put off by the window displays. Often cheap frumpy lady’s clothes are displayed or tacky children’s fashion wear. I had decided that this shop was not for me. Well, that changed this week. I have been staying with my sister-in-law down in Cornwall. When we went to Bodmin shopping, she dragged me (under protest) into Mackays, bra shopping for her eldest daughter.
Mackays stock a wide selection of Ladies. There are bright fun-styled, from pretty dresses to embroidered jeans, in the Children’s wear clothes of a reasonable quality at very moderate prices. This shop also stocks a luxurious range of lingerie, including bras, knickers and even nightwear and Men’s clothes, including classic and fashion wear. These clothes are far from being old fashioned and much of the underwear seems of reasonable quality, (but you get what you pay for!). The children's clothes are not expensive either and there is a wide selection to choose, for both boys and girls alike.
Mackays is on a par with Woolworth, yet it seems to be a shop that sells better quality. It is not Marks and Spencer or John Lewis. It is great if for something new and different to the average boutiques, catering for all the family. The clothes seem to fit and the cuts are not for an unrealistic body shape. It is worth noting that many of the garments are in easy care fabrics, to save time on washing.
Some of Mackays clothes come up small compared to other makes; (in the Lady’s range) Sizes are a little conventional, with a limited range for the petit or ‘fuller-figure’ lady. My two nieces were happy with the lingerie that I brought for them. These items fitted perfectly and satisfied the most discerning of teenagers! (Shane did not want any items of clothing, so I am not altogether sure how accurate the Men's ranges is for sizing).
I compare Mackays to Woolworth, simply because it also stocks household products such as bed linen, cushions towels and many other linens.
**Refund**
Mackays sets out its return policy clearly. Mackays states: ‘Our exchange and return policy is an example of how confident we feel about our products and helps give you the confidence that we care’.
The stores seem well laid out and cater for mother with pushchair and also the disabled.
With over two hundred and fifty stores in the Britain there is bound to be a store in the local area. It is worth a visit and Mackays ways stocked with a great range, from work, rest or for play. There is something for all the family and you even may find that something you have been looking for ages! I did I brought a white denim jacket.
