I have owned a playstation 3 for a number of years now with a sixaxis controller. The controller is extreamly suffisticated as well as all of the normal buttons which are used for conventional gameplay it also contains a gyroscope which monitors its position and movements in six axis, clever hey. The sxiaxis motion control offers a new way to play games and makes things more interesting and more challenging. For example when playing a racing game with a friend and we get a little bored we may play a game where we just use the motion control which makes it alot more challenging and adds alot of amusement.
Some of the best games I have found to use with the sixaxis include Super Rub a Dub very entertaining no matter who you are.
As time goes on the use of the motion control wil get better and better and will include better refinement ...
Advantages: great wireless technology Disadvantages: quite expensive
by those annoying wires. The wireless system involves 2.4Ghz technology (not too sure what that means but it works very well) and a 30 foot range. So you can now walk out of the room with the controller in your hand and have absolutely no problems.
The fact that it is wireless does mean it requires batteries which fit onto a pack on the back - two AA batteries, but if you don't want to keep buying and changing batteries you can buy rechargeable batteries, which is what I currently own and recharge buy connecting the controller to the xbox through the USB.
Look and feel:
This controller looks quite cool and is generally white to look the same as the console itself. Of course there are several other versions of the controller including a blue and pink version as well as several different special edition versions such as the Halo Spartan ...
Advantages: Battery Life / Charge Times ; Nice Size Disadvantages: Squeaking / Sticking
4-5 hours I would say without needing re-charged and once they do it only takes about half an hour for full battery life to be resumed.
For me the actual sixaxis function isn't that important. Unless a PS3 version of Wii Sports comes out then I don't see that much use for this function. Virtua Tennis allows sixaxis to be used, but you also have to control the player by tilting the controller, which is very difficult.
The actual controller itself is very lightweight, but you will get used to this very quickly. The buttons are easy to press, but I do have to minor problems with the buttons. At one point the X button was sticking on one of the controllers, but this fixed itslef. The other thing I have noticed is that the L3/R3 buttons are harder to push than the new Dualshock 3 controller, which I bought because of the squeaking ...
