Macleans Ice Whitening Gel

What is it?

Macleans Ice whitening gel is a fluoride toothpaste that supposedly whitens your teeth. I have always been very conscious about my teeth and am always keen on trying products that say they can whiten my teeth. I started using the ice whitening gel a few months ago and this review is on the experience I have had with it so far.

Its features include:
- Unique triple action gel formula with whitening micro particles which deliver 2 times better whitening than an ordinary toothpaste

- Helps protect against plaque and decay

Cost & Packaging

The price of Macleans Ice Whitening Gel is £2.09 from Tesco or you can buy online from £2.89 for a 100ml tube. I tend to buy from Tesco and their occasionally do an offer of 2 for £3 so I tend to stock up when it’s on offer and save a little money. It comes in a shiny blue cardboard box and the gel itself is contained inside a plastic tube. Both of these items are recyclable.

Use

As with any other toothpaste out there, you use this regularly twice a day. The cap of the tube screws off and you apply a small amount onto a toothbrush then proceed to brush your teeth (pretty standard, but I might as well explain it just incase…). The packaging does advise that it takes at least 28days of daily usage before any noticeable effect can be seen.

One other important point when it comes to using toothpaste is also the taste. This particular one is quite minty which leaves you with “icy fresh breath”. In the past I’ve tried other fluoride toothpastes and sometimes the taste can be quite overpowering but with this one, I feel fine using it.

Note: This is not suitable for children under 7 years.

Results

I’m sure we’ve all seen the adverts for these types of toothpastes with the models who have unbelievably white teeth and I can tell you that unless your teeth are already like that, this toothpaste will not make your teeth incredibly white. However, I have noticed my teeth are slightly whiter than they were before use. Its effect is fairly mild and it can take a while for them to show. It does do what it says on the tube and that is restoring natural whiteness.

Personally, I will probably be sticking to this toothpaste as I have tried many that don’t seem to have an effect whatsoever. Compared to some toothpastes out there at the moment, this one is fairly good value for money and is worth a try.
