Advantages Everything, this is a superb toothpaste in every way thinkable
Disadvantages None at all for me, I think its totally great!
For a while now I have only been using a toothpaste prescribed to me by Dentist. I have incredibly sensitive teeth due to an enamel loss though Bulimia and I grind my teeth and I found no toothpaste to be suitable for me at all, and believe me I've tried loads.
However my dentist told me to try others out for a little while and to see if my teeth had improved with what he had been prescribing me and if not then I'd have to get back my prescription. The first one I tried was Sensodyne again that cost me a fortune and my teeth were back to being incredibly over sensitive and painful once again quick smart. I bought this one not because it is designed for sensitive teeth but because after reading the information stated on the box it told me that it removes stains without damaging tooth enamel (which is a worry to me), its also a gel rather than being anything abrasive looking and its from a brand I grew up with and know it contains fluoride. I purchased a 100ml tube of this on offer in Morrison's for just a pound and thought that at least if it was no good to me I wouldn't have lost a lot of money on it!
The Packaging:This comes in a mainly light turquoise coloured sort of metallic box. On two sides of it we are told that it is Macleans 'Longer Lasting' Ice Whitening Gel 'Visibly whiter teeth, icy fresh breath' and then other information on the box includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it (its not suitable for children under 7 years old and for best results should be used a twice a day), the ingredients and size is stated (as I have listed already) and contact details for the manufacturer are also listed. The tube is plastic and squeezy and the same in colouring as the box really with all the same information on it.
Verdict:I can't believe that I am saying this, and believe me I really didn't think that I would be saying this but I love it...on every single level!
It squeezes very easily out of the tube and the gel is blue and looks like a gel really. It smells minty and tastes minty fresh and very refreshing, it isn't too sweet and certainly not too harsh or breathtaking or owt like that.It feels smooth in use, froths up a little and isn't one bit abrasive feeling on my teeth and I always gently brush my teeth for around the two minute mark twice a day.
The results of this, in my case have been simply excellent. This doesn't upset my sensitive teeth at all and has actually benefited them. After trialing out the Sensodyne toothpaste everything hot and very cold was really hurting my poor old nashers, after a couple of days of using this the sensitivity had gone which is great as this isn't marketed as a sensitive toothpaste. This freshens my breath for a good hour or so and doesn't give my teeth a dried out feeling that I'm used to with the lack of enamel that I have.Teeth feel really clean as well all day long and I mean all day! I don't get a grimy or plaquey feeling in my mouth for a good long time after using it so my teeth really do feel cleaner than ever!
