Advantages Advantages Nice visuals, excelent immersive story, realistic and gritty

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little short and lacking in bonus and extra content.

‘’’Mafia II’’’ is a third-person style viewpoint game along the crime/adventure genres. The explanatory nature of the title suggests the storyline will be set amongst one incarnation or another concerning the world of organised crime. It is the sequel to the fairly successful game ‘Mafia – City of Lost Heaven. The original game’s premise was similar in nature to a mob movie where you start as a straight-laced taxi driver and eventually descend into the murky world of a fictionalised portrayal of New York City and the low-lives that inhabit it. The first game is very reminiscent of movies such ... more

Advantages Advantages Great story, great mechanics.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too much driving!

Mafia II is a action/driving game developed by 2k Czech. It's considered a mature game and contains plenty of death, racism and bad language. It has no multiplayer (at time of this review) and a few minor DLC's. This game that had a lot to live up to considering it's critically acclaimed predecessor. So how does it compare? A little history. I love a good mob story. The original Mafia had arguably the best story in any game I'd ever played. It grabbed you tightly and kept you playing to find out what happened next. Back when Mafia was released, the entire sandbox genre was just starting to ... more

Advantages Advantages well designed, plenty of hidden gems

Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit limited (not as open world as it could have been)

A good friend bought me Mafia II as a surprise gift the other week when it was a mere £5 on Steam. It was certainly a welcome treat. I had played the demo and was honestly underwhelmed by it. Mediocre at best. Which was rather a shame because I had high-hopes after hearing various pre-launch reviews. Yet I could hardly turn down the opportunity to get stuck in. First impressions were good. It seemed to have high hopes, compared to the demo at least. You play Vito Scaletta, a poor Italian immigrant who moves to America during the early 1900s. The family are struggling to make ends-meet and Vito ... more

Advantages Advantages great story, great gunfights, great fistfights, great music, good graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages dead empty world, no side missions, short, not enough gunfights, too many delivery mission,

Mafia II is a very good game but suffers from many bad design mistakes. Lets start with the positives; the gunfights are very fun, the world is very beautiful and i think the music and sound is very good. The gunfights in this game are very satisfying and fun; ducking in and out if cover gunning down your enemies is very fun, the problem is there's not enough gun fights. Most missions in this games either don't have gunfights or they have a really short sections with gunfights. Though the "BIGGEST" problem, at least for me, is that this beautiful and gigantic world, is dead and empty, which i ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Free World, Great Story, Great Characters, Realistic

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could be better in the free roam aspect, Could be melee weapons(I understand why not)

Mafia II. This game, while having very inappropriate themes for younger teens(I say 15+ versus the 17+ rating)but is a very great game. It does a good job at the story, with twists and turns making it very interesting and it still has replay value. The characters go along with the story as well, being very realistic with their own style making them unique and separate from others in the game and in other games. The free roam aspect could be better with more buildings to interact with, as well as a specific free roam option where you can rise up the ranks hiring guards and such. Other than that ... more
