If you are not versed in the world of food processor's - you are forgiven as not many are.

We recently married and decided to replace our old processor with something more up to date and modern looking that would fit into our kitchen.

What do you get for your money?

The Magimix 4200 comes in a large box with a handle, so easy to carry around if you are shopping (although a bit heavy so buy it at the end of your trip).

The product comprises of 2 parts:

- the main food processor
- a separate plastic storage box for all the components.

The magimix has 3 bowls - mini, midi and a main bowl.

The mini bowl is a small bowl which can be used for things such as chop garlic, to make a salsa verde or pesto. Equally, it is useful when you are only chopping a small amoutn of food, making less to wash up.

The midi bowl is a middle sized bowl which can be used for chopping onions, grating cheese and carrot.

The main bowl is good fo soups, making pastry and chopping large amounts of vegetables. This si the bowl I use to make coleslaw.

Each of the bowls fit inside eachother for use and storage, although, when you are using the main bowl you have to take the two other bowls out, which if you have a lot of ingredients on the side can be a little inconvenient.

As part of the magimix you receive a number of different blades:

- 2 metal blades (one large and one small)
- Egg Whisk
- Grating Disc
- Slicing Disc
- Juicer (for lemons, limes and oranges)

Also provided is a spatula to easily get the food out of the bowls.

I have used each of these blades. The grating blade gives uniformed sized grated carrot, apple and cabbage - great for coleslaw. The other blades also do what they say and I especially like the slicing blade to get thin potatoes in readiness for cooking without any fuss.

Pro's and Con's

The Magimix 4200 is an excellent food processor and you can use it for all you processing needs. It looks good in a modern kitchen and is sturdy and strong unlike some other processors on the market.

Some problems that I have encountered using my magimix:

- I never have any room to put the other bowls when I am using the main bowl. If I have got room, the bowls often get dirty and all have to be washed.
- The Storage box does take up some additional room which is not brilliant if you lack work surface or cupboard space.

Who should buy the magimix 4200?

The magimix 4200 is almost an investment. Those who enjoy cooking but like to save time by not having to chop or knead everything, this is the processor for you. If you are looking for something which will last you for the next 5 years, I believe that the magimix is something that has sustainability and will last me to prepare great meals for my family.

If you are starting a family and wish to feed your baby homemade baby food, you can process food in the magimix and it will be perfect (using the mini bowl).

The magimix is for anyone who is looking for a serious food processor in their kitchen.

Price

This product comes in between 179 to 240 pounds dependent on colour and where you purchase it. It is available in all department stores and online.

Overall, I think this is great product, with great value for money.

I'd love a Magimix but don't know if I'd use it often enough to justify the price. :)
