I have always loved a cup of fresh coffee but usually settled for an instant one because getting out the coffee maker and then cleaning it afterwards was a bit of a chore for one cup.
Then whilst on the look out for a new one (the glass jug on mine was cracked) I was intrigued by a new stylish coffee maker being demonstrated in a local department store.
Although it cost quite a bit more than the one I may have bought, I fell in love with the ease of use and the fact that I could have a variety of blends at any one time without having to waste almost a full bag of ground coffee because I didn't use it all before it went off.
Quite simply, you plug it in, fill up the water container and switch it on. About a minute later when the light stops flashing you insert a capsule of your favourite blend, put a cup under the nozzle and pull forward the lever to fill the cup.
Should you want hot milk, you flick another switch, place the frother nozzle into your milk and push the lever back until it is hot enough. Taking all of a couple of minutes at the most.
You get approx 40 capsules when you buy the machine - in a variety of blends. (The demonstrator ensured I had the full range to try, giving me 50 capsules). When you need more you can either post off an order form or shop online and join the Nespresso Club. Your order is delivered to your door within 3 days. Each capsule costs 21p - not bad compared to what you pay on the high street these days.
Not only is the machine very neat and stylish, you can get a number of accessories to make it even more impressive to your dinner guests, not to mention the two expresso cups and saucers that come with it.
This really is the way to enjoy coffee. Once made you just give it a quick wipe over and that is it. This is not a coffee maker to hide in a cupboard.

Yes it is pricey but I'm afraid I am a bit of a sucker for a gadget - the in laws were impressed!

If it made biscuits, and brought them in bed too, then I might be tempted!

Sounds like fun, but very expensive! We just use an ordinary filter machine and as we use it every day coffee never has a chance to go off (in fact I didn't realise it was possible!). Cleaning is easy. Sue
