...have been meaning to review Magners since I joined Ciao again, but haven’t been able to get around to it until now. Magners, is by far my favourite alcoholic beverage, and has been since I was 17, replacing the copious amounts of alchopops which I used to drink. It is the staple drink I have on a night out, and can be found in nearly every pub in Britain. In fact, the only time I have had problems getting it, was when I was in Twickenham last year, ...
...Woodpecker to name a few. Magners has recently also expanded into various other varieties.

Magners is a combination of 17 varieties of Apple, none of which I have ever heard of: Michellin, Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, Bulmer's Norman, Tremlett's Bitter, Breakwell Seedling, Taylor's, Harry Master's Jersey, Medaille d'Or, Reine des Pommes, Ashton Bitter, Brambley's, Grenadier, Brown Thorn, Brown Snout, Vilberies and improved Dove.

Come and Smell the Apples!!!

Advantages: Tastes lovely, quite cheap, easy to get hold of
Disadvantages: Produces a lot of wind

Magners Cider is something which I've just come across lately. What I mean is, my dad has been drinking ths stuff for ages and there's always a few bottles stashed underneath our kitchen cupboard but until lately, he's been the only one in our house who's drunk this stuff. The only cider I've ever tried before has been Diamond White and some cheap Tesco's own brand stuff, which I got famously drunk with one night outside our local community centre ...
...The bottle has the Magners label on the outside, in a nice gold and cream colour with a foil top and a scew lid. The lid can't be prized off with your teeth (as I've tried) but has to be taken off properly with a cap remover or it also comes off it you just jam it between the hinges of a door and pull hard. The bottle says it's an Irish cider and it's made with a variety of over 50 different sorts of specially selected apples. It's a vintage cider, ...

Marvellous Magners

Advantages: Refreshing, a cider with character
Disadvantages: A bit pricey

...A colleague at work recommended Magners Irish Cider. Although I had heard of Magners, it was not a brand which I was used to drinking because I tend to buy brands like Strongbow and Woodpecker. However, on a recent shopping trip, I spotted bottles of Magners on the shelf so thought I'd opt for one of these instead. PACKAGING You can buy Magners in bottle or can format. I chose to buy a 568ml bottle from Tesco which cost me £1.99. The bottle is ...
...on the front bearing the Magners name and company's logo. Magners is more than just a cider; it is an original vintage cider, as proudly stated on the front of the bottle. WHAT MAKES MAGNERS DIFFERENT? As you would expect from a vintage cider, a lot of time and effort has been put into making Magners taste great. But it's not just about time. Magners Irish Cider is one of the few ciders which can boast a unique blend of seventeen varieties of apples ...

What more could you want

Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: nothing

Magners Cider was first launched in Glasgow, at the beginning of 2003, even though it was launched in Scotland it is an Irish cider. Been a big drinker of cider I have tried most different varieties of cider; I did used to prefer sweet cider compared to dry. In most pubs though you can only buy dry cider, mainly strong bow on pump. So this is what I began drinking, until a few months ago when I discovered Magners. So I decided to try the cider, ...
...the ice and tried the magners with it. Now I have drunk a lot of different types of cider in my time but this is by far one of the best that I have tried. The taste was neither sweet or dry it appeared to be somewhere in the middle, I was literally sat there having little sips trying to think whether it tasted more dry or sweet. The bottle is a large brown bottle with all the usual labeling on, then for the lid you have gold like tin foil over this ...

Chilled and Smooth

Advantages: tastes refreshing
Disadvantages: -

...similar but I definitely think Magners is the pricier but better tasting option as it just has something about it which makes me willing to pay the extra more. You can buy Magners in the separate bottles which at the minute are actually quite cheap and it's nice to drink over ice without getting you tipsy in any way. The packaging of Magners is quite distinct but does have similar colours next to the others on the shelf as most tend to have yellow ...
...green around it and the Magners logo in the middle of it. The overall look is nice and eye catching and for a cider does have quite a sophisticated look to it. As for the nutritional information, there isn't really much on it but it does state that the 568ml bottle being drunk is 2.6 units and then compares it to the daily guidelines. For a woman it is 2-3 units a day and for men 3-4 units. It is 4.5% volume which isn't too high compared to the likes ...

The perfect summer drink

Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: None

...of years now has been Magners Irish cider. Magners Irish Cider is actually called Bulmers Original Vintage Cider in the Republic of Ireland where it is produced but to not cause confusion it is called Magners Original Irish Cider outside of the Republic of Ireland. All clear and understood, perfect?! When you buy Magners in a pub you generally get it in large glass bottles which measure about a pint and a half. Some pubs, but I think this is really ...
...get Magners in small bottles and cans too. The bottles are a dark brown colour and have a distinctive yellow and green label on the front. My first introduction to the cider was actually in Ireland where I had one too many Bulmers and regretted it the next day but developed a taste for the cider and have liked it ever since. In my opinion cider is much better when it's cold and crisp and I love the fact that Magners is accompanied with a large glass ...
