Having decided to buy a new kitchen in the january sales, I put together a shortlist of stores to visit. Geographically, Magnet (Villiers Road, Kingston upon Thames) came first and were advertising 50% off and a further 10% discount for the first week. Great! So we went in, had a look around and decided to chat to a designer about a layout and a quote.
This is where the problem began. This man was rude and downright snobby. He asked for our budget. I told him £1500 to £2000. Without even asking the size of the kitchen, he told us we wouldn't get a Magnet kitchen for that price (despite the fact that the sale brochure had at least 10 ranges at under that price).
We continued though, as I wanted to see what sort of cost there would be. He was not interested in what we wanted, designed a poor layout, didn't care about our individual requirements and peppered the whole conversation with comments about money which he had and he clearly felt we didn't. To top it off, we asked about finance and he said he didn't really know about the package but that "all that APR stuff is a red herring". Great advice.
One wasted hour later we left with a useless kitchen plan and a clear decision not to buy anything from Magnet ever. The impression is of a snotty company who feel they don't need customers with a measly £2000 to spend. This man was not one of their own staff but a freelancer who works for them occasionally. I suggest Magnet check up on their freelancers a bit more...

We too made the major mistake of buying from the Kingston branch and suffered at the hands of that arrogant man. Excellent review - we need to warn others of this unprofessional company!

I have not bought a complete kitchen from this company, but have purchased accesories to take to my home abroad. I have been very disapointed with the proucts eg. the fitted waste bin was totally useless. It was not cheap and was a complete waste of time transporting it. I decided that if this was the quality I would give this firm a wide bert were future purchase were needed.

Great review. Thanks for the warning. A store to avoid. I heard from a kitchen fitter that Magnet kitchens aren't too good anyway, so you escaped nicely!
Advantages: The kitchen units themselves Disadvantages: They don't seem capable of fitting kitchens and break promises on when fitting will be completed

Review of Magnet Kitchens
Advantages: Quick turnaround of appointments, knowlegeable salesman, great service, value for money Disadvantages: would prefer 3d views/plans during first consultation
