"The Beautiful Sound Of Maire Brennan"

The Beautiful Sound Of Maire Brennan

Maire (pronounced Moy-a) is the voice behind Clannad with Dee, Olive, and Bridin Brennan she has helped shape the popularisation of Celtic music across the nations. As the lead singer of Clannad for over two decades she has helped win awards for their sheer talent. It is rare in an age like this that we come across a voice as beautiful and pure as Maire's, but she has a haunting ethereal quality that lingers on and on. A voice like hers is hard to forget. Even as she has branched out in her solo career she still keeps the same qualities that she always had. All her music is gentle and calming with an almost dreamy consistency.

When I first heard Maire's voice in Clannad I really was smitten from then on I have admired her ability to put her heart and soul into everything she sings. I love her high, sweet voice it is a pleasure to listen to. There is something refreshing in the way that she sings. It is really my kind of music that she sings and the added bonus that she is a Christian is excellent. Listening to her sing Christian music is fantastic and this is what I like best. Though I would listen to Maire sing just about anything. Apart from Enya who is her sister there are very few singers that have a talent like hers. It really is quite original.

Maire Brennan is a strong Christian and when she sings Christian music you know that she is really singing it from the heart. A soprano lead singer-harpist Maire Brennan is a lady with so many gifts I cannot count them all. Maire’s gripping voice spreads through the stereo with an air of magnetism she is just so easy to listen to. Maire has a compassion in her voice an understanding for the lyrics that she is singing. With albums ranging from pop/folk to the ethereal Maire is very flexible in her vocal range and has proved this with her success. Her personality shines through her voice and draws the successful fan base that follows Maire.

Some singers just pass you by, but Maire Brennan gets you gripped and keeps you there. You really get absorbed in the songs that she is singing captivated by that beautiful Irish voice. Her voice resonating and making you tingle. Maire gets behind the words of her songs and sings from the heart a rare quality in today’s music and that's part of the reason that I love her. There are many other reasons one of which is the way she pulls off an outstanding performance level time after time. Maire is consistent with providing a high performance level I would say she gives each song 100% every time.

The Start Of Moya Brennan’s Solo Career

In 1992, Maire released her first solo album, Maire, on Atlantic Records. Maire’s solo work is quite unlike any of her group work and may surprise some fans. Her solo albums different than her work with Clannad. For starters she no longer uses the name Maire Brennan she goes under the name Moya Brennan. Maire has vivid, resonant vocals and intense instrumentation. Her talent for composing enticing and harmonious songs cannot be compared to many other artists. Even though her songs have changed since her days in Clannad she has gone from strength to strength now writing mod to medieval. Each song stimulates the thoughts and makes you completely engaged with it. The beauty of her songs now is that Moya now plays the harp a lot more than she did when she was with Clannad. The harp is a haunting and beautiful instrument it certainly is my favourite instrument.

If you like Moya Brennan then you will probably like Enya and Loreena Mckennit.

Latest Moya Brennan news:
“Live In Concert” was released in America on March 8th this contains popular Clannad songs.

Moya joins U2 and Van Morrison among the Irish hopefuls for the 47th
Grammy awards. Unfortunately on February 13th when the Grammy’s took place Moya didn’t win the Grammy she deserved.

Moya starting working on a new album in November 2004 she hopes this will be out in the shops in April/May 2005.

Clannad still exists it’s just that Moya has taken time, but she admits that there is still work to do there and one day that work will be done.
