I opted for a pack of Twix and a pack of Maltesers. Only three in the box? That wasn’t going to be enough. We would end up fighting for the last one I know we would.
Darren must have forgotten they were in the freezer because Sunday evening the box was still unopened. I sneaked one out of the packet and ran into the bedroom to enjoy it in peace.
These are slightly ... ...a a few bits of maltesers dotted about here an there, but no where near the amount of pieces the box leads you to believe are in each ice cream.
I would say there were possibly more tiny miniscule pieces of chocolate rather than honeycomb pieces.
Saying that however it was still a really nice ice cream and surprisingly filling too.

The old Buy one get one free offer is always too much for me to resist. This weekend in Tesco’s all the ice cream bars were on this offer. This included the usual like Mars, Twix, Bounty, Maltesers etc.
These are slightly different to the normal ice cream bars because Maltesers are on a stick, which I like because I don’t end up with a messy lump of ice cream in the bottom of the packet.
It looks like someone had got three balls of ice cream, covered them in chocolate and moulded them together before sticking a stick right through the middle (ouch)
I couldn’t wait to taste this ice cream. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but I think I thought they would have big bits of honeycombe in them, but they didn’t. Beneath the chocolate coating is a vanilla ice-cream, and within this ice-cream there a a few bits of maltesers dotted about here an there, but no where near the amount of pieces the box leads you to believe are in each ice cream. I would say there were possibly more tiny miniscule pieces of chocolate rather than honeycomb pieces.
Saying that however it was still a really nice ice cream and surprisingly filling too. With a Mars ice cream bar for example, three bites or so and it’s gone (I’ve got a big mouth). With this one, it took quite a while to eat the whole ice cream. Well done to Masterfoods for this (For some reason I assumed Mars made Maltesers ice creams but not according to the box), but why couldn’t you add more bits to them?
I searched high and low on the box but haven’t found any nutritional info to relay to you. We probably don’t want to know how many calories we are ingesting by eating one of these, or how much saturated fat content there is in one ice cream.
There are however a shocking amount of E numbers contained within the milk chocolate and ice cream. There are also traces of peanut and almond in these ice creams which obviously makes them unsuitable for anyone with nut allergies.
I will definitely buy these again, but only if they are on offer as £1.89 for three ice creams isn’t incredibly great value for money really. If you were going to buy these and haven’t tried them before, then my advice to you would be not to build up any expectations about what you might get. If you don’t then I think you will really enjoy this ice cream. As I was expecting great things I was slightly disappointed about what I got.
Advantages: Lots of chocolate and ice cream... Disadvantages: ...not enough honeycomb
...open the freezer door: a Maltesers ice cream.
I love Maltesers. When I was little they were a rare treat, usually accompanying a theatre or cinema visit, and they still feel a bit special - more so if you indulge in a box rather than a plastic packet. The ice cream doesn't have the same exclusive appeal - it's very much 'oh look, yet another popular sweetie turned ice cream shock' - and doesn't bear a great deal of resemblance to its chocolate ball ... ...This is recognisably Maltesers chocolate: light in colour, sweet, quite sticky, almost as though a little caramel had been mixed with the chocolate. Being chilled improves it so much that I vow to keep any future purchases of Maltesers the sweets in the fridge. It's quite a thin layer but provides an intensive sweet taste when you snap off sections of the coating with your teeth (and if there's another way of eating this kind of ice cream, do tell).

Advantages: They taste lovely Disadvantages: Full of calories
I first sampled the Maltesers Ice Cream at the Ideal Home Exhibition earlier this year, to promote the new Maltesers Ice Cream they were giving away free samples. Having finally managing to fight my way through the vultures who were grabbing 4/5 each I eventually received my sample. I am not normally a great ice cream fan but after only one bite I could quite understand why the vultures were grabbing 4/5 ice creams, the Maltesers Ice Cream is truly ... ...they had the Maltesers Ice Creams on a buy one get one free offer, they normally retail at £1.99 for 3 which I think is a bit expensive but at £1.99 for six I didn't need my arm twisting to buy them. **THE PRODUCT**
The Maltesers Ice Creams are sold in a box of three, I'm not sure if they are available to purchase individually as I have only seen them being sold as a box of three. The packaging is very eye-catching, the ice creams are packaged in ...

...and a Maltesers.
The Maltesers one comes in a bright red tub, 500 ml, with the same branding as the confectionary and a picture of a curl of ice cream.
The cardboard lid simply pops off, but the seal underneath it is a bit tougher and though I’m ashamed to admit it, an ice cream tub was harder than I was!! But of course, it contained ice cream, so I persevered and I beat it eventually. (Lisa 1 – Ice Cream 0)
The ice cream itself, like all ice ... ...defrost a little, as it is rock hard when it first comes out of the freezer and can only be removed from the pot by use of some serious industrial digging machinery. The downside to this is that the tub becomes quite slimy and squishy and if you are clumsy like me, you are in danger of ending up with melted ice cream all over you.
As I don’t like chocolate but I do like the honeycomb stuff inside Maltesers, I was looking forward to trying this.

Advantages: Nice chocolate on the outside Disadvantages: horrid chocolate in the middle
Oh dear, I never do very well with titles do I?
Anyway, I was doing the shopping at Tesco's and came across those buy one get one free offers we all love, these were scrummy ice creams, they had the choice of Twix, bounty, galaxy, mars dark and gold and malteasers. (offer is still on if any of you are interested!)
I opted for the malteasers and galaxy, followed swiftly the next week by twix and galaxy! I'm not a very chocolaty person but as the ... ...for something cold and delicious.
I opened the box of malteaser ice creams, this contains 3 ice creams, not the usual 4 as the others do. The wrapper is red with malteaser writen on it. These also say not to bo sold separately, I've only ever seen them in packs but I'm sure they would sell them individually.
The ice cream is three circular shapes on top of each other, the chocolate is lovely on the outside and then you get to the vanilla ice cream ...

...here as it is about Maltesers ice cream, but the not the one you can buy in a tub, but the one on a stick. This ice cream lolly is so moreish that you will find it hard to just have one, she says, as her mind wanders over to the place in the kitchen where the freezer is.

I am a great fan of Malteasers and could eat them anytime day or night so for me this ice cream lolly is a dream.
When you open the wrapper you well see milk chocolate, which is shaped like three circles on top of each other on a stick which has Malteasers written on it.
When you bite into the milk chocolate, ...

Some top facts from the maltesers website (www.maltesers.co.uk):
- Originally made in 1936 and called Energy Balls, Forrest E Mars created the light and airy bubbles we know as Maltesers. They were so successful that the Mars family business are still making them in the same factory in Slough today, over 70 years later.
- In 2007 there were over 10 billion Maltesers balls made in Slough... That's enough to go around the world over 3.7 times!
They have since developed new malteser products including Maltesers White (honeycomb bubbles covered in white chocolate) and MaltesersIceCream, as well as a seasonal special Advent Calendar.
Maltesers comes in a variety of pack sizes from the standard 37g bag to 135g pouches, funsize packs, 146g boxes, Malteser pot to the Malteser Ball.
But nothing beats the original milk chocolate ...

Shall I tease you with a malteaser,? The chocolate with a less fattening centre?
I have a bag of maltesers sat next to me on my computer desk. They sit in a red plastic bag that has pictures of chocolate balls on it one of them is in half so you can see the honeycomb centre. Maltesers come in small size packs suitable for that little choc boost when you are at school or out and about. Maltesers are available in many sizes from the treat size to the bucket. The standard size contains 37g and cost38p from tescos.
Maltesers were first invented in 1936 by Forest Mars Sr. they were called energy balls then.
Maltesers are available in white chocolate as well as the milk chocolate. There is also a Malteser chocolate drink powder available and a maltesericecream.
Here are the nutritional values for those who are interested

Advantages: A new way to eat cream eggs Disadvantages: new product, old ideas
This is just another icecream designed and based on the origional product and is another item to add on to the ever increasing list of similar items such as the snickers, mars, twix, maltesersicecreams
Never te less it does bring a new lease of life into the product allowing the cream egg fanatics to enjoy the product all year round, so in the cold they can enjoy the chocolate egg form and in the summer a refreshing and cool icecream.
This is one product sure to take off as it has properties similar to other classics such as the cornetto due to it's shape and the mars icecream due to it having a centre that is different to ordinary icecream.
A must have for this summer and deffinately a product for the cream egg fanatics who will now be able to find new ways of eating their old classic in a new and refreshing form. ...
