I love them…my boyfriend loves them…is there anybody out there that doesn’t?
What is it that makes maltesers so addictive? Could it be the delicious crunchy textured filling that is so tempting?
For those of you who have been living in a cave since…forever, maltesers are crunchy malt type honeycomb balls covered in smooth milk chocolate. They were first introduced to the UK in 1936 and have been selling ever since. They are made by Mars Confectionary. They are one of the most popular sweets around…so popular that there are even malteser chocolate drinks and ice creams. Yummy!!! I don’t suppose it will be long before they are toppings for McDonalds McFlurrys…mmmmmmmm
Did you know that maltesers come 6th in the top 10 sweets in the UK? Well they do, which isn’t surprising!!
Maltesers come in different sized packs and boxes and the price ranges from the size and the places where you buy them. Newsagents and supermarkets will be cheaper than the cinema and filling stations. They come in red, easy to spot packs. You can also find them in variety packs!!
Maltesers don’t fill you up either, as they are so light, and they also practically melt in your mouth so that’s perhaps why loads of people eat them.
There are many different ways to eat maltesers. You can bite them and be done with it, suck all the chocolate off and crunch the filling, be rude and suck the whole lot hehe or nibble the chocolate covering and share the filling with your lover. Sometimes if you feel like a challenge, why don’t you try and chuck them into a friend’s mouth. This will only work if your friend has a big mouth hehe
These are the ingredients for maltesers: Milk Chocolate (of course), Glucose Syrup, Malt Extract, Skimmed Milk Powder, Whey Powder, Wheat Flour, Pectin, Sugar, Sodium Bicarbonate, Salt, Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat, Raising Agent, Gelling Agent, Emulsifiers (E442, Lecithin) and Flavouring, just incase anyone is wondering!!!
Maltesers are good for sharing (or maybe not)…especially if you have seen the adverts on TV about them.
What else can I say about maltesers? Well, only the fact that they are temptingly tempting. Go out and buy a packet and if you cant find any one to share them with, you can always share them with yourself. Well, who in their right mind would want to share them anyway? I certainly wouldn’t!!! The only thing you have to watch out for is the lack of money you might end up with if you get addicted!!! Think you can control yourself??? If so, then give them a try and you wont be disappointed!
Advantages: A great tasting white chocolate Malteser. Disadvantages: Quite sweet.
