Advantages: Matches travel systems Disadvantages: Heavy, extremely difficult to move handle, straps and get in and out of the car.
We were given a mamas and papas travel system from a family friend for our first baby. The car seat looked like it had been well used and we wanted to buy a new one for safety reasons so we decided on the one to match the pram. What a mistake! We got a matching one mainly so we could use it as a travel system which in hindsight wasn't a good basis for our desicion as we hardly ever use it like this.
I can find very few positive points about this seat and would advise anyone against buying one. The car seat is SO heavy even without a baby in it and is very uncomfortable to carry. The buckle to fasten the baby in is needlessly complicated and especially difficult to do in dim light conditions or with a screaming baby. The button to extend the straps so they're not digging into the baby's shoulders is in a really arkward place ...
Advantages: Looks good, competitively priced Disadvantages: Does not work with locking seat belts eg Mazda 6
This type of car seat is not suited to Mazda 6 cars or any car that has a locking mechanism on the seat belt.
We found it very difficult to install in the Mazda 6 as the seat belts do not give. In order to unlock the mechanism the seat belt has to be unfastened. Therefore the whole unit base has to be disconnected and re-fitted every time the car seat is taken out.
The car seat came as part of a travel system package which in theory should be able to click on to the pram without disturbing the baby.
We no longer use the seat as part of a travel system it is just permanently situated in the car and not removed!
Also the car seat is very heavy when carried with a baby in it. ...
Advantages: value for money, lightweight Disadvantages: not one handed collapse
We bought this from Argos as a travel system to save money. I find it very easy to push and steer being so light weight. Its easy to put up, but collapsing takes a bit of practice (especially if you misplace the instructions!!) But after a week I could do it easily, the same goes for putting the car seat in the car. Our seatbelts don't retract so it can be fiddly, especially if you can't open the car door fully, but after practice it gets easier. You need 2 hands to collapse it which can cause a problem if you have a baby in your arms.
The rain cover baffled me to start with, and I'm still not sure I'm using it correctly, but ot covers all the baby and buggy and thats all that matters. Storage tray fits everything I need that won't go in her changing bag. I don't use the bag that came with it as its not big enough-I pack for every ...
