Mamas & Papas Moses Basket - Pooh Bear & Friends

Advantages: looks lovely and is sturdy
Disadvantages: same as with all moses baskets- will prob only last for approx 3 months

...We chose the Barnaby Bear design which was in cream, neutral colours. We bought it from an indepedent retailer rather than direct from Mamas and Papas as this saved us around £20 and only cost us approx £60. the stand cost us £20. I would suggest always searching for a bargain online or on ebay as its always cheaper than from the main retailer. It comes with a foam mattress that can be replaced for approx £10 if you need another. It has a shade type hood although i found it didnt tend to stay up very well. The sleeping area is 13 inches (33cm) wide and 25 inches (64cm) long. this is a little bigger than some toehrs and i would also say sturdier than some of the cheaper models. This lasted my chilren approx 3 months although this obviously varies largely on how big/long your baby is.... Read review

...than I was happy with and there were some issues I had with it- the canopy wouldn't stay up and the bunting didn't wash very well. So by considering a Mamas and Papas basket I was effectively doubling what I had paid before, but if you placed the two baskets beside each other you would see a very obvious difference in quality. Another aspect that swayed me towards buying a basket instead of a crib was that at all the scans I had been told this was a small baby, whereas my first had been a large baby and so I reasoned that being a smaller than average baby at 7lb meant that I should get that extra bit of time from it. ...We got told by so many people "don't buy a moses basket....complete waste of money....will only last a few weeks....couple of months at the most"! In our case, those statements were complete nonsense. Our daughter was 7lb 3oz when she was born and 49cm in length (the average-sized baby). The first night we had her home, she looked like a little dot in her big cot - in fact she didn't look very comfortable at all. The following morning, my husband drove up to Kiddicare in Peterborough to purchase a moses basket for her, together with the Mamas & Papas Rocking Moses Basket/Carrycot Stand. The stand cost £26.99 and the basket (Zeddy & Rhubarb) cost £68.00. Normal Mamas & Papas retail price for the basket is around £86.00.
