When we had our first daughter, we couldn't fit a cot in our room, so decided to buy a moses basket and stand. We looked at a lot of different ones, but decided to buy the Milly and Boris design from Mamas and Papas. It is a neutral colour scheme of linen and cream, with a tiny bear and hearts motif on the bedding. So it's ideal if you are buying before baby is born or if you want to use it again for another child, its's suitable for a boy or girl. It cost £89 for the basket and £25 for the stand. It is one of the more expensive baskets, but as it was going to be our baby's first bed, we wanted a good quality one. The basket is made from maize and it comes with a good quality matress.
It is a standard size of 85cm x 45cm, with an inside length of 65cm. I bought bedding from babies r us and matalans and they all fit perfectly. Our baby is now 3 months and is just about growing out of it. We did only have her in our room for the first week as daddy's snoring was waking her up! Although the basket was still very much used as we put her in it and then directly in the cot in her room. We thought this would make the transition into her cot easier as she will be use to the surroundings...hopefully!!!!

Advantages: ideal first bed Disadvantages: can be expensive depending how quick grown out of
...for her, together with the Mamas & Papas Rocking Moses Basket/Carrycot Stand. The stand cost £26.99 and the basket (Zeddy & Rhubarb) cost £68.00. Normal Mamas & Papas retail price for the basket is around £86.00. As far as I know, Kiddicare are no longer stocking Mamas & Papas products, but I believe Glasgow Pram Centre (www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk) can supply at a reasonable price (n.b. not all products are shown on Glasgow's website, but a quick ... ...The moses basket is very strong and sturdy and capable of taking a baby up to 9kg in weight (which is a hefty size for a moses basket) or until the baby can sit up unaided. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Zeddy & Rhubarb range, Zeddy is a Zebra and Rhubarb is a Rabbit and the colour scheme is predominantly yellow with small amounts of pale brown. The moses basket is lined in a yellow "waffle" material - slightly padded around the sides, and ...

...retailer rather than direct from Mamas and Papas as this saved us around £20 and only cost us approx £60. the stand cost us £20. I would suggest always searching for a bargain online or on ebay as its always cheaper than from the main retailer. It comes with a foam mattress that can be replaced for approx £10 if you need another. It has a shade type hood although i found it didnt tend to stay up very well. The sleeping area is 13 inches (33cm) wide ...

Advantages: Very cosy, roomy and washes well Disadvantages: You wont get very long from this as a first bed
than I was happy with and there were some issues I had with it- the canopy wouldn't stay up and the bunting didn't wash very well. So by considering a Mamas and Papasbasket I was effectively doubling what I had paid before, but if you placed the two baskets beside each other you would see a very obvious difference in quality.
Another aspect that swayed me towards buying a basket instead of a crib was that at all the scans I had been told this was a small baby, whereas my first had been a large baby and so I reasoned that being a smaller than average baby at 7lb meant that I should get that extra bit of time from it. And it would appear that my reasoning is correct. My son took up all the space in his, my daughter doesn't.
The RRP for a Mamas and PapasMosesBasket is £89. This doesn't include the stand or the sheets. A 2 Pack ...
The 'Roundabout' nursery décor range at Mama's & Papa's is a funky, modern range, available in pink (with the main characters being 2 bunnies) for girls, & blue (with the main characters being 2 dogs) for boys. The name Roundabout comes from the fact that the theme is around cars & road signs, not a merry-go-round which is the obvious thought!
I was in two minds as to whether or not to buy a Mosesbasket. The government guidelines state that babies should be allowed to sleep in their parents room until 6 months old in order to reduce the cot death risks, but most parents I talked to said that either the Mosesbasket was a waste of money as they are too small for baby to sleep in for more than a few weeks, or that they'd moved baby into the cot within a few weeks anyway since they seemed happier there.
But, since I figured this ...
Advantages: Nice colours/finishes Disadvantages: Poor value for money
I bought the ivory version of this stand for my little boys mosesbasket. It was quite a bit more expensive at £32 compared to other stands, but I wanted a stand in white/ivory & also one that had the option of rocking. The stand is very good quality and finish. A bit tricky to put together (takes 2 people to hold all the bits). There are 2 plastic discs that can be adjusted to (supposedly) stop the stand rocking, but don't rely on them to stay put & do the job they're supposed to! On the downside, I was hoping to be able to use the stand for the babys bath aswell, but it didn't fit on this stand (perhaps it's just my bath, but being a M&P bath I hoped it would fit). At the end oft he day, I should have gone for a cheaper version - my son didn't much appreciate the rocking, & I found it easier to put the basket on the floor with regards ...
