Advantages High quality with a good matress.
Disadvantages High price point.
When we had our first daughter, we couldn't fit a cot in our room, so decided to buy a moses basket and stand. We looked at a lot of different ones, but decided to buy the Milly and Boris design from Mamas and Papas. It is a neutral colour scheme of linen and cream, with a tiny bear and hearts motif on the bedding. So it's ideal if you are buying before baby is born or if you want to use it again for another child, its's suitable for a boy or girl. It cost £89 for the basket and £25 for the stand. It is one of the more expensive baskets, but as it was going to be our baby's first bed, we wanted a good quality one. The basket is made from maize and it comes with a good quality matress. It is a standard size of 85cm x 45cm, with an inside length of 65cm. I bought bedding from babies r us and matalans and they all fit perfectly. Our baby is now 3 months and is just about growing out of it. We did only have her in our room for the first week as daddy's snoring was waking her up! Although the basket was still very much used as we put her in it and then directly in the cot in her room. We thought this would make the transition into her cot easier as she will be use to the surroundings...hopefully!!!!
When we were shopping for a basket, there were cheaper ones on the market, but they were flimsy and the matresses gave no support, which I felt was important for a newborn. 3 months on we are very pleased we went for the Mamas and Papas moses basket.
