I purchased this seat 18 months ago as part of a travel system. I paid £269 for the complete system from John Lewis in Reading ,who offer free delivery and will price match with anywhere in the country.The travel system included a surefix base,which is attached to the car seat(not where an airbag is fitted),the seat then clicks onto the base insuring the seat is correcty fitted each time.When you consider that 8 out of 10 car seats are incorrectly fitted this is a brilliant idea . The surefix base can be left in the car and just the seat removed,extra bases can be purchased for around £15 if you have a second car,but as the base is so simple to fix I personally don't think it is worth it. The seat also clicks onto the plikomatic buggy,which means you do not have to disturb a sleeping baby but can simply lift seat and baby out of the car and click the seat onto the buggy.
The seat itself is well made with deep sides,important in a side impact.Unlike some other models I looked at this seat is well padded .My baby is still using the seat at 18 months as he has not yet reached the recommended weight of 20 lbs to use a forward facing seat.Although the upper age limit is suggested to be 15 months this will depend on your babys weight.
The seat is suitable from birth and comes complete with a head hugger.The harness is adjustable and easy to fasten with just one click.The seat can also be used as a rocker for a very young baby.I used the seat to feed my son in on holiday when he was 9 months old-saved taking a highchair.
On the minus side the removeable hood is useless!It is impossible to pull up and if you do manage it offers little weather protection.
The seat is very heavy at nearly 4 kg and with the weight of a growing baby too you would not want to carry it far.
I am now about to buy the next stage car seat and after 18 months of constant service the seat looks as good as new!

Good op on a product vital to you if you have a child and a car, I just wish they had been this technical and safe when my daughter was small, I do feel though that the option you chose would not be one that others would plump for for financial reasons, many would prefer to buy the seat alone and follow the safety intructions.

Advantages: Surefix base for easy fitting Disadvantages: The head hugger supplied with the seat isn't padded well enough. It doesn't hold a baby's head particularly well
Advantages: it is light, it is easy to fit, and feels very sturdy when it is fitted. Disadvantages: the sun canopy not very easy to take on and off, so don't use it very often.
Advantages: can be used as a travel system (if you are able to use the seat!!) Disadvantages: Far too upright for a newborn, heavy, difficult to fit belt around - AVOID!!!!
Advantages: The "one click release" system is easy and you can easily take the car seat from car to chassis with no fuss. Disadvantages: Car seat is heavy, can work out to be expensive.
