The staff were more than helpful and polite and I couldn't fault them at all.

When we were looking for a christening gown for Baby B for her christening we didn't know where to look. Friends recommended going to boutique stores but we had heard rumours that a gown would cost anything over £100 which we thought was a little bit too much to be paying. We looked in the likes of Debenhams and BHS but the dresses there were more like flower girl dresses and not christening gear.
Eventually we went to Mamas and Papas which we had visited before but never actually purchased anything from. We had always been put off by the prices of their items but we decided to give it a chance for the christening outfit.
The store is very bare, it's not like when you go in mothercare and the shop floor is cramped with rails of clothes and a huge selection of kids toys that have been well and truly tested whilst on display. The clothes and toys and nursery equipment in this store are spread out and the store looks very bare, which I don't think is due to the lack of stock but also to the aparent lack of colour.
A lot of the clothes and accessories tend to be very neutral. They have lots of white and creams and pale pastel colours. There are no bright pinks or blues and it looks very modern but I think it lacks that exciting appeal that a nursery store should have. It's a shame that we are trying to get our babies to fit in with our modern lifestyle of having everything low key and blending in with interior instead of having nice bright stimulating toys and clothes.
The store is definitely very clean, all the clothes are folded up nicely and the floor is virtually sparkling which really does make a difference! I hate going into shops that look like jumble sales as it really does put me off buying things.
The store stocks all kinds of equipment from prams and pushchairs to moses baskets, shoes, clothes, teddies and blankets. There is a good selection too with about 4 different moses baskets to chose from and lots of pushchairs. Everything that we have looked at has always looked like very good quality and people who have had pushchairs from here that we know have rated them very highly.
The atmosphere in this store is a little stand off-ish I find. It is a store which is very quiet-noise wise not as in with no customers- and so it seems a little strange and not all that friendly.
The christening gear had a nice selection. It made a change from other stores that would just have one outfit and that was it. This store had 3 short dresses to choose from and 3 long gowns. We were able to try them on and the changing room was a nice large size which was ideal for us as we had a large pushchair too.
What I found a little odd was that the dresses were very expensive- £60-80 yet you tried on the same one that you would buy. I thought that this was a bit wrong... I'm sure if you've had a baby you will know how much they drool and how very quickly they can get something dirty. I would like to thikn that for such an expensive piece of clothing that you would have sample ones to try on and not actual stock that is for sale.
We did decided on one of the dresses that we tried on and it was a big hit on the day. I thought the quality was very good, it was comfortable, the sizing guide was just right which made a change as Baby B is 8 months old yet in mothercare clothes is still in 0-3 months but for her christening gown from Mamas and Papas 6-9 months fitted her just fine.
The staff were more than helpful and polite and I couldn't fault them at all.
Expense wise I think this store is extremely expensive compared to other baby stores. I think you pay for the name as far as this store is concerned. I would much rather spend my money on more clothes for Baby B instead of just on one item of clothing from mamas and papas.
I recommend this store for something special but for general baby gear I'd say stick to babies r us or mothercare!
Advantages: Great toys mainly aimed at young babies Disadvantages: Very expensive
We have a Mama's and Papa's store which opened recently in my home town (Basingstoke, Hampshire). It is one of 20 stores in the UK.
They sell a range of products for babies and mum's-to-be. The range includes maternity wear, nursery furniture and furnishings, clothes, buggies and prams, carseats and toys. This opinion is about their range of toys.
They seem to have two distinct ranges of toys. One range is very bright and colourful and the other ... ...neutral, i mean materials such as soft cottons and sheepskin in neutral colours such as cream and "teddy bear brown". They sell old fashioned teddy bears in this range made of the most desirable soft fur. I bought a large light brown one for my 10 month old daughter, simply because I could imagine her getting older and wanting to drag it by the leg behind her, everywhere she went. Its a range of toys which would look perfect in a sumptuous nursery ...

...aimless wandering around Mothercare and Mamas and Papas we realised the error of our ways, there seems to be no end to the stuff that babies need and this is before you get to the stuff that you want to buy that they could probably do without. We spent a horrendous amount in Mamas and Papas whilst Scarlett was still a bump!
Mamas and Papas always seems to me to be like the ‘designer’ shop of the baby world. Whilst Mothercare is practical and quite ... ...I think that’s the image Mamas and papas likes to sell, buy their stuff and you will have the perfect everything, but than that’s advertising for you!
So what does it sell? It’s range is extensive although not quite as extensive as Mothercare.
BABY CLOTHES
Their baby clothes range is small. The key colour seems to be beige or white clothes with small discreet designs. There are a few blue and pink items, but not many. The prices range from about ...

I really loved the look of this buggy, So decided to purchase it for my daughter who was 6 months old at the time. My daughter liked it alot. She loved the free style pram straps which allowed her to choose to sit right up or lie down. It wasn't very comfortable though when she had a nap as the straps meant she'd wobble around alot and her head would always be twilted so, she always woke up with a sore neck, Also it's not very padded at all. The ... ...that, it seems to loose it's strength and just doesn't look very appealing, begins to look old and tatty. The raincover was awful, It was such a tight fit, and was made of such a hard plastic that I couldn't reshape it. I purchased a lovely Tulip liner for the buggy hoping it would be more comfortable but it wasn't as it just made the straps feel much tighter and would just annoy my daughter by folding it's self all the time! I've recently had to ...

Quick review of Mamas & Papas
Huge range of nursery furniture and toys. Good quality. However, in store and online the customer service really lets them down. Very unhelpful and I had so many problems ordering online from them. They gave the impression every time that they really couldn't care less. ...

Advantages: NIce colour Disadvantages: Poor quality and appauling customer service
I purchased the Luna pushchair in tulip on 17/07/08. The pushchair is no good for a newborn unless you purchase expensive liners. The raincovers are ill fitting and ripped within a month. The shop said this is general wear and tear. The pram then snapped when 6 months old and had to be handed in for repair which is going to take weeks. I have been given a replacement which is a different model and inadequate for my daughter. Due to the bad weather ... ...pram. The pram is nice to push but when in comes to folding it is awkward and heavy. The top of the pram scraped off the ground. The customer service is appauling. It took me 2 days to get through to customer care. I eventually held on for 47 min to get through. The woman i spoke to advised me to hand it into shop. The shop assistants attitude was appauling even insinuating that i would steal the raincover from the replacement. She was patronising ...

will find a Mothercare shop in nearly all major high streets. You will also find in the big cities there is a Mothercare World which is the biggest baby shop they really are huge and worth looking at,
Why go to Mothercare?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well mother care can be reasonable in the pricing department especially if you are buying a pram or pushchair. I would say they are better quality than Mamas & Papas and you will end up saving up to £200 if you buy your pushchair from Mothercare although I think they could make there fabric patterns a bit more desirable.
I must say a big thumbs up to Mothercare for their maternity clothes which have improved drastically over the years. They have taken their clothes from frumpy to really quite up to date, and I personally found their kick flares and jeans to be generously cut and very comfortable ...
Advantages: huge, wonderful and contains a shop for everyone! Disadvantages: Once you're in pulling yourself away is harder than it sounds!!
.
The Bullring really does have something for everyone!
It has Miss Sixty, Lacoste, Morgan and many more designer stores for people who are into their labels.
It has a Lego, EaryLearning Centre, Mamas and Papas and lots of other shops for kids.
Theres an Animal store for people who love the surfy look.
There is a New look, Topshop and Topman, Riverisland and H&M for people who go for the trendy look.
And naturally it has a TKmaxx where there will always be a style for everyone!
The Bullring is also home to many shoe shops. They have a Clarks, Faith , Barrats, Schuh, Shoezone, Reiker Shoes and a Bratz which is a great selection in my opinion. My favourite would have to be Schuh, as they have some super retro stuff in there along with Converse, Vans and Gola shoes.
It is open Mon-Sat: 9:30am till 8pm and on Sundays: 11am till 5pm. You can ...
been established since 1975.
They aim to bring good quality products to the consumer at the best prices and from what I have seen of the store and the purchases that I have made, this is a completely accurate and true statement.
What do they stock?
They stock some of the top brand names in nursery equipment, prams, pushchairs, car seats and other accessories
Brands like Mama?s & Papa?s, Britax, Maclaren, Graco, Safety First, Avent and Tomy to name but a few.
The Store Itself
The Kiddicare store has just recently moved location, due to the high rise in turnover and need for greater space to display and stock there products.
They are still based in Werrington, only a mile or so from their original location, you can find directions for the new store later on within this opinion.
The store is new in design and is very clean ...
