I've discovered a love for perfume only recently, but it could prove a very very expensive love (even though one of my favourites only cost me 8 euros!!) Smells are such evocative things aren't they? I find them the best thing ever to stimulate a memory. A single sniff of a certain perfume can remind me a of place, a time, an event - something happy that happened to me, or something not so happy of course. So for that reason, and obviously wanting to smell nice, perfume is an important possession for me.
And so fell this little beauty into my hands. When my mum entered the room with a bag unmistakably from our local perfumery in town, and *that* look in her eye, my glance immediately darted in her direction. It was a pink box I pulled out of the bag she handed to me, predominantly pink, with black sides, and the wavy, optical illusion you see on the box in the picture at the top of the screen. Looking at the wavy pattern can kinda screw with your mind, but what better packing to make you wanna get into it and dispose of it as quickly as possible to get to the beauty inside.

According to the website, Adorably is only Mango's second fragrance, launched in April 2005, the first being 'MNG Cut for Woman'.
<<Adorably>> As far as I can tell from the website, the fragrance is available only in Eau de Toilette natural spray, which is average (Parfum andEau de Parfum are stronger and more expensive whilst Eau de Cologne and Eau Fraiche are weaker) in terms of the concentration and is the most popular kind of perfume. <<The Bottle>> I guess this is a deciding factor for some people, you're not going to want an ugly looking bottle sitting on your shelf, so it's worth a mention. Plus it's always useful to know how easy it is to be able to carry around.
It's a glass bottle, as you can see from the picture, with a fairly thick and so I would assume sturdy base. I'm not going to chuck the bottle on the floor in the name of research, I love this perfume much too much to do that - though I think it would withstand the odd knock or bump. Nevertheless, not one to be chucking around...it's got a black lid, which is circular and I feel may be prone to coming off if you were transporting this somewhere, I never feel as though I've put it on securely afterwards but maybe this is just me. The lid has 'Mango adorably' engraved into it.
The 50 ml bottle is just over 3 inches (so about 8cm) in width, just under 2 inches in depth (at it's deepest) and 2 inches high. Looking at the pictures on the website, though I obviously cannot be sure, the 30 ml bottle looks to be the same height, but obviously not as wide. The 50 ml bottle may be slighter wider, though not by much, but is much taller. All things considered, this isn't the kind of bottle I would want to carry around with me - if I were going to take this away with me, I would put it into an atomiser. Looks wise though, I think it passes the test, it certainly looks very pretty on my shelf. And I love the colour of the perfume itself, a pale peachy pink kind of colour - which is echoed on the packaging, with the waves of this peachy pink, a more vibrant pink and black.
<<The Perfume>> Much as I love beautiful smells, I find them extremely difficult to describe accurately. And Mango adorably is a beautiful smell, in my opinion. To me, it's slightly floral, maybe this is the feminine pink colour having some effect on my judgment. The product description on the website mentions red fruits and precious woods and the more you smell the more these different smells seem to emerge. Though I'm not the sort of person who could pick out these smells myself, once you tell me they're there they do certainly become evident to me. The woody smell was very apparent to me though, and gives a sort of Oriental feel to the perfume which is very sensual, though this is contrasted with what is described as 'an appealing freshness'.
It does indeed have a kind of musky, deep smell about it, yet at the same time it is so light and fresh. You see my trouble in trying to describe this perfume. It is so many things. This is probably wrong, but to me it smells at its freshest when you first spray the perfume, when all the smells are still together. Odd I know that that should be the case. But then the perfume seems to diffuse and throughout the day you're kind of hit with the different smells as they emerge and you just get this beautiful little reminder of the gorgeous scent that you're wearing. That might just be me though. Overall it's just such a warm, sensual smell and it makes you feel so feminine.
It's the odd contrasts that make this perfume work in my opinion - it's musky yet sweet, heavy and yet light. It contains freesias, lily of the valley and patouchli. So I was right about the floral smell...oh the sweet smell of satisfaction...
Freesias are loved for their beautiful colours and delicious perfume whilst lily of valley is a popular flower in bridal arrangements because of its sweet perfume. The patouchli plant, native to tropical Asia, has a 'pungent, powerful, mossy and musty' fragrance according to my research.
So you can see, a varied mixture of smells make up this beautiful perfume. I, myself, am not so good at saying what kind of occasions this is suitable for but I would wear it for all occasions - I find it light enough to wear (sparingly) day to day, but also enjoy wearing it when I go out, and have even been complimented on it - by a guy! Will wonders never cease!
However, a particular website I found retailing this perfume suggested it was perfect for a romantic night out - would have to agree and this would be a perfume of choice were I to go on a romantic night out. I think perhaps it is more suited to romantic or special occasions, but I like to wear it occasionally during the day.
I find it's staying power is very good indeed, though this obviously varies from person to person. The chemicals in a persons skin actually mean that a perfume will smell different on everyone, so my best advice is to get yourself down to a perfume counter, try it out, go off and do a bit of shopping and see what you think of the smell after an hour or two of retail therapy. As I said, I find the staying power to be very good, with the smell developing as I wear it.
<<Conclusion>> I love this perfume, my mum took a chance and bought it for me because it was cheap - the perfume shop in question had received this perfume by mistake and were selling it off. It came with a free t-shirt also, can't say that I've worn it but hey it's free - it's black and says 'MANGO adorably' all the way round in small pink writing. Not a selling point for me, I would buy this again and again simply for the perfume. It's lasting a long time too, I've had the bottle for around a month now, maybe a little over and the bottle has depleted very little, maybe this is another optical illusion, like the packing though, as the bottle is quite wide. Still, I'd say I've got a fair amount of it left, and that's only a good thing in my eyes!
<<Price and Availabilty>> Like I say, I got this cheap simply because the shop had ended up with it by accident. ♥ 30 ml - RRP = £17 - cheapsmells.com = £16 - theperfumeshop.com = £14.99
www.escentual.co.uk is another online perfume shop you could try, with all Mango adorably products, including the body lotion, selling at their RRP price (£11.50 is the RRP for the body lotion, in case you were wondering). You can also choose to get the free t-shirt with 50 ml eau de toilette spray.
However, please take into consideration that I haven't looked into delivery charges for any of the websites I've quoted prices from. Looking at the prices on escentual.co.uk I noticed that the delivery charges are £1.95 for standard UK delivery (£4.95 for standard Europe and £9.50 for standard outside Europe delivery).
I couldn't find this on the Boots website, and I'm not hundred percent sure if it's availabe at the Boots fragrance counter, but you'll find it in plenty of perfumes shops - The Perfume Shop being one of them.
