My lunchtime in London!! Into Planet Organic I go, and I came with an assortment of things to write ops about, well actually it was things for my lunch!
As with most of my ops of late, I’ve been looking for things to go in the lunch-box, and this is one that will certainly be holding pride of place.
** What is it? **
A Mangola bar is an organic snack bar, it is basically mango coated in chocolate, the thing I like about though is that it is produced under the fair trade scheme, whereby the producers get a fair price for their produce..
** What is the wrapper like? **
The wrapper is long and thin, about 6 inches long, it is purple, with a yellow and black box on it proudly proclaiming the word MANGOLA it also mentions that it organic and fairly traded. It also has the name of the company that market it Gebana – “for the good of humans and nature” Now with a phrase like that they’ve got to be good!
A bar will set you back 85 pence, it is quite expensive, but I found it to be really quality.
** What is it like? **
You open the wrapper, and you find a long thin bar covered in milk chocolate.
It smells very much like a strong Swiss chocolate, very nice! But not surprising as they are made by a Swiss company.
Breaking a piece off you can see the thick chocolate outer coating, and the soft inner. The inner is a sort of dark brown colour, and quite pliable. If you are used to seeing bright orange coloured mangoes you’ll be in for a surprise here!
The chocolate tastes quite strong, as I have found with most organic chocolates, that said it is not too strong, so should suit most people.
The inner has a nice chewy texture, and a really nice strong fruity taste. It wasn’t too chewy; I would say that they have got it about right. It tastes slightly different to mango you normally buy, as this is organic, therefore there are no added ingredients to it.
I found the fruity taste to linger in my mouth for quite a long time; it was certainly pleasant to have the taste
I found that the chocolate outer stayed intact when you bit into it, no pieces broke off, so that was good.
I find that any organic type product always seems to be a little bit stronger than standard run of the mill type products, but I actually like that, I have this thought that because of that it must be better for you!

The company do make other varieties of these bars; you can check them out at www.gebana.com
Thanks for reading this, and if you do get one, I know you’ll enjoy it.
Planet Organic mentioned at the top, is basically a totally organic shop in London!!
