MapSource City Navigator North America NT GPS software

Advantages: Clear map, useful features, shows alot of information
Disadvantages: Requires a good processor

...I already have a PDA and so i decided to buy this software with the GPS receiver. I have only used it for a few outings, but so far it hasn't missed a beat. The map is very clear with very clear directions. It also keeps up with the pace of the car relatively well, so the screen isn't 50yards or so behind the cars location. It has some good features, such as you can program your home address, so you can simply click 'navigate to home' no matter where you are. There is also a favourites list, so comment destinations can be easily pulled up without having to re-enter the postcode. Also, in the bottom right of the screen it gives the estimated time of arrival, how many more miles is left of the journey, and how long the remainder of the journey will take. ...have used many more of the features available. One of my favourites is the nav buddy. It lets you enter the details of your mates who also have Nav 6 and it visually displays their location, on your map! There are various cool features such as the speeding alert, camera alerts, and the new London congestion charge feature that allows you to plan your trip around the fine zone. If you pay extra for Tomtom Plus, you get even more features such as traffic and weather updates, detailed city maps and different navigation voices. A simple but clever tol is the route recalculation. It updates your route if anything causes a need for a diversion. All in all, a pretty cool piece of mobile software, go get it!... Read review

...PC Navigator 8 with UK, Ireland and Europe maps. I highly recommend this product. Easy to install and use. Simple user menu's, Find and Navigate, Address, Postcode or Places of Interest, help to find your way to your destinations. Also has Speed camera locations which will need updating from time to time. Voice assistant is pleasent to listen to. I have this installed on my EEE PC (701 Windows) coupled with a GPS receiver (USB). Works seamlessly. I would like the speed camera feature to warn me of up coming cameras, it changes from white (no cameras) to amber (Camera detected 500 yds) and red with an alarm when you pass the camera. Maybe I need to check the setting again to see if I have set this feature up correctly. Because I am using the EE PC I needed to find a suitable mounting for the PC, and I tested the available mounts... Read review
