Advantages: Excellent Value - Great sounding Kit Disadvantages: Hardware is a little flimsy
I bought a Mapex Mars kit some time ago now, and I can honestly say I'm very pleased that I did.
I bought the kit about 10 years ago, when Mapex was a virtually unknown manufacturer of kits, which meant that I bought the kit for a bargain £500. Shortly afterwards, Matt Sorum, of then Guns & Roses fame began to endorse the Mapex Saturn kit and prices went up somewhat.
The kit is a standard rock five piece - 22" Bass, 14" snare and three tom-toms - 12",13" & 16". Also included were a hi-hat stand, snare stand, bass pedal, a straight cymbal stand and a boom cymbal stand.
When I bought mine, it was only available in one colour - bright red, but I'm lead to believe they can now be bought in a variety of colours.
All of the hardware connects externally to the drums, which means no loss of sound quality due to the intrusion of a big piece ...
Advantages: easy to set up Disadvantages: not many places to find this product
In my own opinion this drumkit has a potential rise above other drumkits because of its unique pitch and tone. I think that this product would be a popular item due to its use of creating music and its great value towards money. I have played a number of gigs with this drumkit and it can be set up and ready to play in 10 minutes, its that straight forward. I personally see this product going far but it needs a bette appearance towards i if it wnts to be succesful. TheYamaha GM-2F-5-BK-K should only really be played by intermediate level drummers due to its standard amount of kit and basic out line so that it is easier or people to understand the co-ordination of playing the drums. ...
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: Snare stand a bit flimsy
I own a Hohner LEX 5-piece drumkit.
I bought it a couple of years ago for £300. This included Hi-hats and a crash/ride cymbal.
This drumkit is a standard 5 piece kit, consisting of a bass drum, a floor tom, two mid toms and a snare. Included was a snare stand, and a cymbal stand.
For the price the kit is surprisingly well made, with the insides of the drums smooth, and the outside finished in a shiny black laquer. There is a label on each of the drums with the make, Hohner, the model, LEX, and saying that it was made in Taiwan. All of the hardware, with the exception of the snare stand is sturdy. The two toms are affixed to the bass drum on two l-shaped brackets. The angle and height of the drums can be altered, and once satisfied, you can lock them in place using the drum key provided.
The snare stand is not really very ...
