The build quality is excellent, and the disc load and seek times are very fast compared to those on my parents Sony DVD player. The on-screen menus are user freindly and can be ... ...play import DVDs. I bought the gold version (it was also made in black) and I think it looks great as well. Picture quality is fantastic and although it's hard to explain exactly why it is better than other DVD players I've used, but it just is. The sound quality is also out of the top drawer, in fact I'd say it's better than my stand alone Technics CD player in my stereo system. The build quality is excellent, and the disc load and seek times are very fast compared to those on my parents Sony DVD player. The on-screen menus are user freindly and can be used to change the region code of the player to play import DVDs. At weekends I hook this DVD player up to my home cinema projector and surround sound system, close the curtains and watch some of my favourite films brilliantly reproduced.
The remote control works well although I'm not too keen on the shape which I can only describe as being "bow tie" shaped being thinner in the middle than it is at the ends. The remote is also made from gold painted plastic to match the main unit, which from experience of other gadgets can get rubbed off over time. Maybe Maratz hope we will all buy one of their incredibly expensive multi-function remotes to use instead! My only real complaint against the DV 7010 is the flimsy disc tray. The tray is nowhere near as solid as the one on my CD player or my parent's DVD player. You just have to be careful if you're changing discs in the dark, especially after a drink or two, as one false move and the tray feels like it could snap under your hand.
Overall, a great DVD player if you value picture and sound quality.
