(+) high sound quality, diverse functions, record to tape mode, record from tape mode (-) usless instruction manual, useless recording programme, not all cables supplied
Advantages: Great looks, expansive open and detailed Disadvantages: Lacks a little bite, not ideal for loud volumes
There are a number of high quality amplifiers at the moment within the budget range and Marantz certainly figures prominently in this group. As with all of these amplifiers, they each seem to provide their own characteristic or sonic signature. In the case of Marantz, I usually consider them to be very open throughout the mid range and delivering a crisp clean bass or "snap" to the music. Therefore it was of a great interest to me to finally hear this particular amplifier which has been so highly praised in many publications.
When you see this amplifier, it looks expensive, it has a curvy attractive design which certainly belies it's price tag. It is clear that there has been a great emphasis on aesthetics to allow this to stand up in this very competitive market and it certainly gets top marks for that.
Secondly a welcome addition ...

Advantages: The best bread you will ever taste, on a timer just ready in time for breakfast. Disadvantages: If you can't wait since it smells so good... you might burn your fingers like me!
This Panasonic SD 254 bread maker was a spur-of-the-moment impulse buy from Macro when it was on special offer about a year ago, for £50. My mother needs to eat a gluten-free diet which means she cannot eat regular bread but with this machine she has been able to create loaves both from a gluten-free bread book and also just herself from the skill she has honed with this machine. I have tried both the shop bought and homemade wheat-free bread and there is no comparison, hands down the Panasonic SD 254 wins.
When purchased the box was extremely heavy as this machine contains a lot of mixing equipment which has been cast in metal to make it will last under the pressure of mixing thick dough. Protected by polystyrene box inserts the machine came along with a small measuring cup, spoon and the usual user's guide as well as a warranty card ...

Advantages: Easy to ride, comfy, turns heads, sounds great and has loads of bolt on extras available. Disadvantages: A tank of petrol lasts about five minutes, slightly cramped for the bigger rider, a bit too revvy.
I'm new to riding if you look at the really big picture, but I've been on a bike every day for about a year now, so I've seen more loose gravel, side winds, diesel spills, black ice, freezing fog, wazzocks in BMWs and small trees falling off flatbeds than I care to mention.
I was on a CG125 throughout the winter of 2008, which was. . . Interesting. After that in January I passed my restricted access and bought myself a 2000 Virago 535.
I had every Tom, Dick & Harry telling me to get something more sensible; a CB500, a GS500 etc. . . All the ten-a-penny generic blobs. But I come across the Virago and just loved it.
The first thing you notice, besides all the chrome, is it sounds lovely. Mine had aftermarket Remus exhausts on it when I got it and they definitely let you appreciate the V twin thud a bit more.
When riding it, it ...
