I have tried three of the Thorntons egg range, previously tasting the caramel variant as well as the praline variant. Marc De Champagne comes wrapped in a golden foil, appearing above and beyond any of the products it is in competition with.
The champagne contents have a fierce kick, I would have to call it bitter, perhaps slightly too bitter for the inside of a chocolate egg. The champagne comes in a truffle centre which has a soft texture.
The price of the egg varies dependant on which store you buy it from. If you're lucky, as I was, you will be able to pick up 3 for £1 in the end of season sale... If you're not so lucky then they're priced at around 69p each, again though, this may depend on which store you visitAlmost a match made in heaven, with a few minor changes this egg could become one of my favourites. Although this product has the potential to be one of the best mini Thorntons treats, ready for when you are on the go and in need of a chocolate hit, I feel that the egg as it is now doesn't fulfil the job it is required to do. As there are much better chocolate treats covered by the Thorntons brand this one is unfortunately a no from me.
